F1Fan,

Thank you very much for your in depth responses. I see your point about the upper control arm and the mount and how Steeda's design of the arm and mount work in unison. The problem is, by the time I read this response I had already placed the order for the J&M UCA. I believe with just the arm alone, and their anti-clunk bushings, I should reduce my wheel hop significantly and it should cure my problem. I appreciate your assistance on the matter.

The arm should be arriving tomorrow and I will install it, then the second I am going to Moroso to test it out and see if it helped. I have one more question though, i don't know what pressure to put my tires at. When I arrived the first time I put them at 20psi and got wheel spin, then I aired them to 15 psi, and got wheel hop, so I put them at 18 and got a mixture. I think I will put them at 15 next time I go and see how I run. My question is if this is ok for the tire? It' a low profile tire and since it has a reinforced sidewall I figured it was fine. The sidewall did balloon out a little but it seemed ok. Is 15psi ok?
Hi KLO,

I'm not sue there is much advantage to be had off the line with low profile street radials or trying to heat them with a burn-out either. I would not go too low on air pressure as the tires still need air to safely support the car and not overheat the tire body. But anyway that was what Frank Hawley said about street radials, he said it doesn't matter much for regular streetradials. But I'm no expert on drag racing by any means as my only real experience is a fewtest and tune day 1/4's,1/8 mile fun runs and the twice a year NHRA company drags at Pomona. A couple of years agoFrank Hawley blew up our brand new (as in less than 600 miles on the clock)WS-6 Trans-Am. He was doing some massive smokey burn-outs for the local L.A. TV network promos and I think he spun a bearing because a few days later when the car was cold right after I started it up it seized up solid. When the local Pontiac dealer took the oil pan off to see what happened the whole bottom end was a shrapnel display. What a shame, thatwas an all aluminum motor and is was so pretty. GM had them pull the who drive train and ship it back to them. They took a few weeks to send us a new onefor the dealer to install. It seems that these engineswere beingassembled on a hand line and there was not enough of them to go around and ours had to be put in the queue and wait it's turn.

HTH!

My first time at the track
Right here is the problem. Get some more seat time. I've been drag racing for 18 years, averaging about 300 to 500passes a year, and it took me about 20 passes to get this car down to where it would really launch well... Don't instantly assume that because your not pulling the numbers that everyone else is, that it's a mechanical fault. Work on your technique and practice! Find the sweet spot and you'll be surprised at how well what you have will work for you!

Also, as for the tires, Low profile is bad. You want the sidewall to have enough room to flex and wrinkle to lessen the shock on the contact patch. Ideal is soft wide sidewall.
