Upgrade suspension but not lowered/minimal lowering?
(Forgive if redundant, bad search-fu today)
So in my other post - Rear End Exorcism - Sam points out that my rear handling woes on corners may be well adressed with better shocks - so I'm thinking I may go for the typical "Stage I" - spring, D-Specs, sways, etc. But due to some areas I drive I'm hesitant to lower the car.. and it's complicating finding any type of 'package', so a couple of questions:
1) Anybody upgrade everything else but the stock springs? Still works ok, or is it like repainting a Yugo - mayseem nicer, but it's still cr@p in the end?
2) Or, any performance springs that don't lower?
3) Finally, the H&R sports seem to have the least advertised drop - 1" Fr, .75" rear - H&R sport springs any good?
thanks-

RE: Upgrade suspension but not lowered/minimal lowering?
You don't need springs to have a very, very, very good car. My Mustang isn't lowered. I daily drive it, and drive it hard. In fact, even when I autox it, it's not much slower (around .5 second on a 45 second course) than the Shelby GT I run which of course has lowering springs, AND bigger bars.
Until folks can feel for themselves what good dampers can do, I know that many will think I'm crazy saying the stock springs aren't terrible. There are reasons and times for other springs, but you state more than one reason to stay on stock springs in your above message.
