05 GT WhAt CaN fIt????? (TIRE)
ok got a 05 mustang GT with 18x9 in front and 18x10 in rear. All i got is the rim and no tires.
I want to know how big of a tire can the new body style handle i ve seen a 295 in the rear but im wanting bigger like a 315 or 325 for the rear can it fit without rubbing the rear susp. ????
and for the front like a 265 or 275 Will that fit in the front???
Goal is to have 265 in front and at least 315 in rear.
THANKS

A 275 is pretty much max for a 9" wheel. Quick research found a 285/50/18" is largest I see (may be wider out there, but don't see any). You may have a little trouble squeezing a 285 up there as your wheel off-set will have to be just right on stock suspension set-up. A 275 is your best bet to avoid rubbing.
As for 10"s out back, a 295 is largest I see rated to fit one. Again, you may find some wider tires that are rated, but cornering performance will begin to suffer when pushing tire beyond that. If you want to go W-I-D-E, you are looking at a 315 max before you get into suspension mods and such for clearance. I have seen 345's out back of an S197, but LCA's were re-located/modified for clearance on an expensive project car built by performance company.
