GT500 Shocks and struts struts question
I know this has probably been answered before (maybe multiple times) however my search was fruitless. My question is how much stiffer are the OEM gt500 shocks and struts compared to the oem GT shocks and struts as I'm looking into getting some. Has anyone done this before? Im also not concerned with harsh ride as I already have very very stiff (or soft??) springs. BTW this is going on an 05 GT. Thanks in advance

Couple questions.
Just how stiff is "very very stiff"?
If "very very stiff" isn't outside the effective range of off-the-shelf shocks/struts, is there any reason not to go straight to Konis?
(If "very very stiff" is, in fact, above the useful range of OTS dampers, you're looking a bit higher up the damper ladder, race double-adjustables with custom valving or higher. $$$$.¢¢)

If the car you have does not have an SC then the front will sit higher with the GT500 springs than with the stock springs. The GT500 springs also are sized for the 5.4 L iron block and the GT is a 4.6 L aluminum block.
When I've seen a stock GT500 it always seems to sit higher in the back than a stock GT. If this is true then is that what you want? Most people want to get the back down a little bit.

I put the GT500 on my car "just to see" before my Vogtlands GT500 springs came in. I absolutly loved the ride so much I miss it now and am hunting for springs with comparable rates but the appearance of the Vogtlands. The Vogs are great but it feels much more like a stock GT.
The GT500 springs and shocks tightened the car up without any harshness at all. Turn in was instant with very little roll unless pushing really hard. They made the car feel really sorted out and buttoned down. You will get more noise (nothing bad) with the SVT upper mounts so I swithed back to stock mounts in front. I wanted a tight but quiet feel.
So, I loved it so much, why'd I change? The front end went up 3/8" but the back only went up 1/8". I could handle the back but the gap over the front was killing me. It did level the car out and people comment on how good it looked but that gap in front had to go...I can send pics if you want. I just loggged on to ask for people to help me with this problem of spring choice and saw your question...oh the irony!

Well my springs are 260 ft/lbs front and 220 ft/lbs in the rear. It seems that my main question has been altered as i was wondering how much stiffer the shocks on the gt500 are not the springs. But while we are on the subject are the gt00 fronts a specific rate or progressive??
Here is what it looks like:

(Ugh!)
Don't know if you'll find specification for the dampers but here are the specs for the springs according to our friends over on 'teamshelby':
