Default Question on springs

Well ive never really considered lowering my car, but it seems lowering springs arent as much as i thought they were. If i bought some springs, would i be able to install them myself? I dont have a lot of mechanical experience but my dad does and im willing to learn. Would just springs be ok or would i need new struts too? Also how low is to low for a daily driver? I was thinking maybe a 1-1.5 drop because i have to go over a few dips/speed bumps/rough roads on the way to school everyday. Are the FR springs stiffer or just lower?

Replacing the springs isn't very hard, I'm sure you and your dad could do it. I would save up for performance struts/shocks and do those at the same time. I wouldn't lower more than 1.25", and I like the steeda springs. Any lowering spring will be stiffer to compensate for the loss of the suspension travel. The FRPP springs are progressive rate, which means they become harder and harder to compress as they shorten under load. Steeda springs are linear, which makes the job of the shocks/struts a little easier.

If you decide to go ahead with the spring install Vapour_trails is offering some good advice.

If your car is a vert changing the rear springs is more of a challenge.

To put the front springs in it is best to rent a strut compressor.

If you haven't already done so spend some time reading through recent threads about lowering cars. There are lot's of them.

Here is the sticky thread from the top but it is a lot to wade thruogh https://mustangforums.com/forum/s197...ustang-gt.html

Don't forget to check the alignment afterwards.

Depending on how hard you are going to corner the car after lowering it you might need some other mods.

Once you have made your mind up about what you want to do let us all know and you should get some specific suggestions on how to do it.
