D-specs v. Konis (again)
A quick update on the Konis. I had the front shocks installed a week ago, but since the rears are on back order I still have the stockers on. The Konis make a HUGE difference in ride and handling. I can feel the front glide over bumps in the road that shake and bounce the rear. In turns the front rolls less and doesn't feel as bouncy or unstable as the backend does now. They really handle the stiffer lowering springs very nicely. Really want the rears to get in from Koni, I think they will really make the ride complete.
Thanks again to Sam, he was a big help to me during my decision and was a great guy to buy from. Even if you're not sold on the Koni's and want the d-specs, buy through sam. Excellent follow-up, genuine care for customers, and very friendly/helpful.

I think Koni didn't plan on this sale doing quite so much for their sales overall. Still waiting on rears to arrive. ETA has gone from 4/2 to 3/23 now to 3/30.... So they'll be here soon.
Here's the kicker dark-army.... The rear, IMO are an even bigger difference than the fronts! Best part, they are easy and quick to slap in. Ramps, a few wrenches and maybe half and hour!
I wanted to say thank you for the nice words as well. I do my best for folks. Can't please everyone, but I try.

Oh man I really gotta get some Konis. I drive down some crap-tastic roads to and from work (pretty much the whole way) that jar me to pieces (not to mention the POS road I live down). These things should do the trick!
That and a few other components going on the same time.
Good thing the sale will be going for a while.

I have a question. I just recently lowered on FRPP springs. I dont drive on bad roads. This is my daily driver and 90% Interstate, 10% downtown STL. Would it really be worth it to someone like me, who doesnt race, to spend that kind of money when the time comes? I was planning on replacing with FRPP shocks/struts which are half the price. I dont mind the ride as it is right now. Of course I'll always take a smoother ride, but does the quality justify the price in my situation?
Yes, FRPP dampers are cheaper... They also aren't as good. In fact either D-specs of Koni's are better choices than the FRPP stuff. How do I know? I've run them all, and I'll say this. The ride quality alone is better on either than on the FRPP dampers. Add in the ability to tune the response and feel and yes, it's worth it over the pretty blue Ford stuff.
And considering I prefer Koni over D-specs, it should tell you something about how I feel about the FRPP FR3 dampers. They seem to have been tuned with a "let's make it really firm because that's what folks equate to handling" mentality. I want it firm on rebound, personally... but not over every bump and it's over not perfect pavement that the others are much more composed on the ride side and that's ignoring the actual rebound control differences.

Thanks Sam. This thread is really selling me on the Koni's. I plan to keep this car until the wheels fall off. I'd like my 18mo daughter to drive it one day. The thought of never having to replace the dampers again (at my expense) makes me feel warm and fuzzy.
