Problem with new wheels?
I put new 17 bullitt rims on my V6 today. I was getting a clicking noise, maybe almost metallic sounding from the left rear. Is it possible that the wheels are hitting the caliper? It seems like there isn't much clearance there.
Thanks for your help!

Yeah, there's no way they're hitting the caliper unless something is REALLY messed up. I know some people have had problems with putting on aftermarket wheels because of some rotor retainer clips that got left on some of the cars after they left the factory, but that wouldn't affect a takeoff rim, I wouldn't think. You'll have to wait for some other people to weigh in their opinions because I don't know what it could be.

I had the same problem with an older Ford. A distinct metallic clicking noise. Heard best at slow speed. Seemed to go away at higher speeds.
Turned out it was a loose wheel weight sliding back and forth as the wheel turned.

Thanks to all of you for the responses. I did take out the retaining clips. This morning I got out on the road and it was making the noise. I stopped and pulled out a pretty good sized rock that was apparently on the underside of the tire when I looked last night. That did the trick. I was surpised that the rock made that much noise.

The rims will clear the rear calipers with space to spare.
Its probably a rock.
Jack up her rear and rotate the rear wheels by hand while inspecting
the tread for rocks or other foreign objects.
