Mounting MaxQData Data/Video System
We finished the installation of the MaxQData Quantum Data/Video system and here are some thoughts on how we did it and the system.
When you run data and video for sessions up to 1/2 hour the battery on the Acer Aspire system runs flat pretty quickly. As suggested by MaxQData I got an inverter and pluuged it into the console power outlet. This then means you can run the charger and inverter all of the time without worrying about the battery life. To mount all of the hardware in the car we build a support from 1/2 MDF. The first picture shows the mount with the computer, charger and inverter mounted on it. Industrial strength Velcro is used to hold everything down and the second picture shows the mount with the hardware removed and the Velvco strips. The third picture shows everything mounted in the car with bungee cords.
The camera was mounted onto the front windshield using the optional suction cup mount and the camera lead was taped to the console and dash.
The video files run up to about 400 MB for 1/2 hour so watch that you have enough free space on your drive. The Aspire comes with an 8 GB solid state drive but as delivered only has about 2 GB free. Next track day I'll take my memory stick to move the files to it to make sure there is enough space on the Aspire. I'm also working on removing some of the non essential software from the Aspire.
