I'm not arguing the other benefits of a tune, just the tendency by Mustang tuners to make the throttle map overly enthusiastic. I have no experience with the Steeda tune, so I can't comment on that. FWIW, I had my tune adjusted with a throttle map more to my liking and I'm a happy camper now. I mostly point this out for people who haven't done autocross or track events yet, but are considering it.
Whose tune are you running? I've found that Bamachips and Brenspeed have quicker than stock mapping, but not unreasonably so. They both also sent me different throttle maps that take advantage of the full range of pedal travel--I actually didn't like them as much and went back to their standard. The perfect map would probably be something just a hair less responsive than their stock maps.
The one tuner that I really did not like was Tillman Speed. THAT was an on/off switch where you are at WOT by about 1/3 pedal travel. Too bad, because that felt like the strongest tune.
Bingo! I have used both the Brenspeed and Tillman tunes. I ended up having the Brenspeed tune modified to use more of the pedal travel and have been happy with it ever since.
