Default Tires????

Hey guys, I need a new set of tires really bad and was wondering if anyone has any suggestions? I have a 2006 GT with the 18" rims (235-50-18). I am in a dilemma because I have a buddy who works for Bridgestone/Firestone and there is a huge sale this weekend for employees. He can get me a set of tires pretty cheap, but I don't know if the tires are any good. He can get me either the Bridgestone Turanza Serenity tires or the Firestone Wide Oval Indy 500 Tires. Does anyone have any experience with these tires? I could really use some help here because the sale ends tomorrow! Thanks alot!

Google/Yahoo is your friend. Look at tirerack.com or other tire retailers and read the reviews. It will give you a rough idea about the tires you want to look at. If you can't find the specific tire you are looking for that has a review, you might just have to take a chance. Examples -

First decide what you want. A good all season, summer performance that'll still do well in the rain, max performance? Then you can go from there.

Hope this isn't too late . . . the trick to using the Tire Rack site is to put more weight on their own tests rather than customer reviews (which are all over the map and harder to use).

Anyway, both tires did get TR testing and here are TR's summaries. From the rest of the testing it seems that the B'stone gives up a little ultimate performance but comes out ahead in the wet. Don't know if you live where either wet performance or snow/cold weather capability is pretty much a requirement.
