A good set of winter only tires is essential if you get any serious amounts of snow and ice. My winter tires are 255/45/18 vs summer tires of 285/40/18.

My adjustable Koni yellow/sports are backed off to full soft.

I also put 5 bags of sand in my trunk. This has pluses and minuses but with 445 HP it worth it.

On bad days I also work from home

I'm also old enough to remember when almost all cars were front engine and rear wheel drive were almost the only game in town and the original VW Bugs, Minis and Civics were novelties.

I totally agree...I have a 91 Toyota 4x4 pickup as my DD...I am very happy to leave my cars in the garage in bad weather...dry...spotless...safe...no matter how well one does driving in snow...some moron will run into you...

Best mod for winter: beater

2nd best mod for winter: don't drive it in snow or ice; stay home

3rd best mod for winter: dedicated tires and rims, about 150-200 lbs in the trunk, lot's of prayer to go with the white knuckle driving as you pray as that ******* that has no idea how to drive is about to plow into you.

No matter how good a winter driver you are, the fact remains that your odds of damage will be from some other dickwad.

Call me crazy, but for two semesters.. I would drive to a different campus for class.. x2/week, traffic, sometimes when it's snowing

That was about 50 miles away/100 total.

I shouldn't put myself nor my GT at risk, but it's something I didn't really think about until now. I see tons of cars on the way, either dead on the side with their hazards or in the ditch.

Three winters in my 08 GT so far.
