Any advantage to 2011 GT front suspension?
I just got a 2011 GT and this is the first Mustang/Ford I have ever owned save my wife's Explorer so forgive me if my posts seem ignorant. I was born in a Chevy house....
Anyway, I was curious if there are any benefits to the 2011 front strut/suspension setup since they changed it from 2010. I wanted to add a set of Koni struts because I think the ride on my GT with the Brembo package is kind of bouncy on the highway due to under-damping. But I have found out I would have to add 2010 upper strut mounts and possible different springs to make them fit properly. So I guess the main question is does anyone know why they changed it, if there are any benefits to it or if it is just to accommodate the new 5.0? All of this is making me wonder if I should just wait for Koni to come out with a direct fit strut for the 2011 setup even though I know it may be a while. Any input is welcome - thanks.

The car isn't' really different. Some details like springs rates, dampers, strut mounts, etc.
Older parts bolt up, newer parts will bolt on to an older car. It's still an S197.
There is no reason whatsoever to wait for 2011 specific struts. It will be a while until you see them (and my guess is some will never even bother since the 2010's work with a simple part swap).
The springs do not need to be changed at all. I currently have stock springs on my '11 with Koni's.

Excellent info, Sam, thanks a lot. I sent you an email with the same question earlier so disregard that email. I just want to make sure I do the right thing and don't screw something up, lol, and I wasn't sure if the springs would fit.
