Default Stock S197 GT diff on a road course.

I've talked with my friend who raced a 5.0 some time back and he had all these horrible stories to tell about the stock 8.8 LSD. So, I'd have couple questions I couldn't find the definitive answers for:

- Is the stock S197 GT 8.8 28 spline, or 31 spline?
- Is the clutch pack the same as in GT500's, carbon fiber one ( also sold under M-4700-C by FRPP) or not?
- what's your experience about reliability of the unit as assembled from factory? Is it worth to do anything to extend it?

Finally I'd like to ask if there are ways to improve things with the LSD while still keeping it technically stock, without replacing it to Auburn Racer's, T2R, or Truetrack. These ones cost points in NASA TT and I'd like to avoid that.

Touch wood, so far my stock LSD has been fine and I've run over 25 track days with it. The only thing done to it was put in Royal Purple fluid.

My engine is also rated at 445 flywheel HP and last season I ran Nitto NT01 R-comps.

I am waiting to see how long it does last and hope that by posting this answer I haven't jinxed myself

So it looks like it's 31 spline but I still don't know if it's upgraded carbon pack or regular. Anyone knows?

Sleeper, it's good to hear that. One thing is that yours is 08. They might have revised something in the meantime.
