You can measure the rim width, sort of, by determining the outside width of the rim and subtracting about 1". The outside rim width is equal to the outside width of the tire minus however much the sidewalls bulge out past the wheel (measure both the inside and outside bulges, please).

Most tires can be fitted to rims over about a 1.5" to 2" range. A 275/35-20 can legitimately be fitted to wheels from 9" wide to 11" wide.

ok, so after a lot of thought, I think I will be selling my 20's and purchasing the chrome 2010 gt500 wheels, 18x9 on front and 18x10 on rear. I know my size will be a 255/45 on the front and maybe a 275/40 on the rear. I am thinking about getting the mickey thompson street comp tires. Anybody have any other words on my thought process here? and does anybody have any reviews on the comp sport tires?

We're on the same track. I'm about to get some Nittos 555s and going with 255s in the front and 275s or 285s in the rear. I'm running 18x9.5 bullit rims all the way around. I don't think you'll go wrong with the Nittos... GL!!

Man, I would keep your rims really.. I've seen that car in person and it looks perfect the way it sits, and I know it gets lots of looks... Just gotta get new tires..

yea, ive heard they are the best you can buy! And i really really do not want to sell these foose rims. i do love the way they look on the car. id rather not spend $400 per tire tho, but if thats what i have to do then thats what i have to do i guess

400 per tire? WTF.. You do not need to spend that unless you're seriously thinking of tracking the car, and with Foose rims you're not getting serious track time (no offense, they're show rims).. My Nittos cost around 250-260 a tire and that's a pretty stout tire.. You can get Sumitomos (which aren't bad at all) for a little over 200, and Hankooks which are also good for about the same price..

In fact, tirerack has a closeout on the Sumitomo HTR ZIII for 129 a tire (275/35/20) which is a killer deal.. I would jump on those if I needed tires..

Yeah I can't decide on tires either for next summer and, you and I both mentioned the Michelins.. Kinda has me leaning towards them. For me it was either those or my original Cooper PS3's.

ok so i really dont want to swing the $$$ for the michelin SS so im going to go with the nitto nt555's. my rear tire right now is a 295/30/20 and my front is a 255/35/20 does it really make a differance the fronts being 35 and rear a 30 and also i was wanting to maybe go with a little bit more meat on the tires themselves. like a 40 on the rear and a 40 on the front? The fenders are rolled but i dont know if theres enough room for them to fit?
