Default Quick Panhard questions

Hey all,
So I'm going to be changing out my diff fluid and diff cover this weekend. While im under there I thought about changing out the panhard for something a bit stiffer to maybe help some of the rear "wiggle" felt when hitting it out of a corner.

first, is it worth it? seeing some steel ones for around $100, so not really too pricey if even a little improvement (i've read many threads about watts link and would love to do this eventually). and the install time seems to be pretty quick.

Second, I notice they also sell upgraded panhard braces. would anyone suggest that as well? seems to make sense that if the bar is stiffer, you'd want a stiffer mounting point, just wondering if its necessary.

Thanks!

yes it's well worth it..
as well as lining up the rear wheels perfectly with the chassis it's improve the rear end shake..
very easy to fit (i did mine on ramps)
just one thing though...to get the rear wheels dead center aint that easy..i found you need to adjust it just quater turns and ten move the car...
u wont get it exact unless u do this..
took me about 4 hours non stop tinkering to align the wheels perfectly,,
i bought this one
http://www.ebay.co.uk/itm/360453647799

very happy with it..fitting it to the car is about an hours work..just note the alignment.
the handling will be much improved dude to much stiffer bushes..the standard ford ones are flexible rubber

I seriously doubt you'd ever in a hundred years notice the difference. The brace is not loaded in its flexible direction enough to matter until you slide the right rear tire sideways into a curb, which if it's a hard enough hit to buckle the PHB brace will be a hard enough hit to hurt a few other things back there as well.

A panhard bar (adjustable or otherwise) does not add rigidity. And unless you're racing, that panhard bar brace will provide no tangible benefit. If you want to spend your money wisely, get a watts link instead - it's the only true way to "fix the wiggle". Consider that you're about to spend $250 (or more) on an adjustable panhard bar and brace, when a Fays2 watts link is $650.

FWIW, I did the bar/brace thing and then upgraded to a watts link. I wish I'd done the watts link first.

Fays2 watts link here. Waaaaay better than a panhard and fairly simple to install (it just takes some patience).

Get a watts link.
That is is the only way to get rid of the 'wiggle'.
A stiffer panhard or poly bushings or a brace wont
do it. Its the swing in an arc that the panhard is
doing that feels like the 'wiggle'.

I think i actually noticed a decent difference and decrease in rear end slop with my adjustable panhard. stiffer bushings i suppose

yes it will make it firmer.
100%..i'm very critical of these things..
the panhard with the prothane bushes is it? makes the car much more stable.
superb cheap upgrade with added benefit of rear wheels in perfect alignment
