Shelby GT and Shelby GT500
ORIGINAL: 2007GT/CS
Exactly. Shelby added NOTHING new to the technology with the Shelby GT. The styling is sharp but, as pointed out above, theimplementation (installing a collection of already built parts) isn't even that creative compared to what a lot of other vendors and members of this forum have done.
There will be some small premium in the stickers and badges down the road. Not nearly enough to justify even the MSRP ask today much less the ADP. If you are buying this car as an investment, good luck.
Too bad really, Shelby could have gone down the road more like the Saleen PJ instead and had something to be proud of vs. just living off the legend.I consider myself a Shelby lover and wish very much to see a return to the things that made the name great. Maybe next year.....
The GT500 is more a Shelby that the 'GT' will ever be - regardless of where it was built, who built it, or what its VIN number says. SVT had a frickin' vision! The Shelby GT OTOH is the quitesssential hype-mobile, priced accordingly, and proof of P.T. Barnum's adage.

. Although I think nowadays there's more suckers born than ever before[:'(].
Anotheradage is "to each his own".I personally think the Shelby GT is a hellava nice factory-built car, which really appeals to me. It also appeals to me that so many mods are already done, because after I buy it I might be hard pressed to find the additional time and occasional $$thousands to do the mods myself, not to mention that all these parts receive factory warranty, its a Shelby and has all the associated badging, appearance mods anddistinction thatfollows. I would only do this, however, if the price is at MSRP or reasonably close. Otherwise, its an '08 GT for me or other'08 offering. The photo isnt the one I was in this morning, but it looks the same as that one.

I guess in every form there are people that just can't get over it and probably will try to bash it till the day they die. Life's to short, Energy wasted on a beaten up subject. I will enjoy mine till the day i die, and could care less what anybody thinks about. Enjoy what you have, while you have it. I will.............

07gteddy, I agree with you. If you notice 90% of the trash talkers are driving a run-of-the-mill GT. They don't and will never understand. Just take it in stride and wait 10 years when their GT's are in the junkyards all across America waiting to be pressed in a small cubes.
I have said this example before...which would you pic...a 68 GT or a 68 Shelby GT350. I think everybody knows the answer to that and we will be smiling in the end. The funniest thing about it is that alot ofthese trash talkers will be the ones asking to buy our Shelby GT in 40 years when they can finally afford one after retirement

I own both an 08 GT500 vert and an 07 SGT. The SGT corners better and is fun to drive. It snaps you back a little when you hit the gas and for the horses it can go. It also gets more recognition (thumbs up, etc.) from the public than the GT500. The GT500 is the smoothest accelerating vehicle I have ever owned. Scary fast if you really hit the gas. For a daily driver it is much more comfortable of a ride than the SGT. It handles well, but it is overweight and a little unbalanced front to back. Fortunately, I have been driving for almost 30 years and enjoy swinging the rear around. My wife MUCH prefers the ride in the GT500. In the SGT you feel EVERY bump and it is loud.
Both cars could use 3.73 gears. Both cars could use a louder exhaust. My 2002 Trans Am had a much more aggresive exhaust note. My wife always knew when I was home in the Trans Am. Both Shelby's are more fun than the Trans Am and both handle better in my opinion.

Shelby GT/SC will probably be pretty satisfying to you then. It's a normal Shelby GT that goes back to the Nevada Plant to get a Paxton Novi supercharger installed (or comes ordered with a supercharger) and gets new badging. Faster than a GT500 too. There are very few made so far.
Here's an article I found for you:

Maybe Shelby didn't add any new, innovative technology to the current GT to produce the SGT, but it has the "master's touch" so to speak. Shelby badges, handling package, engine mods--even if they are the same ones you can order from Ford Racing, all that stuff makes the SGT a very desirable car. As the cars age I think you'll find the SGT, GT-H and GT 500's will share a somewhat equal footing in significance. The GT 500 probably provides the most punch per $ than any car on the road. It also carries the influence of Mr. Shelby, from the aggressive front end to the swapping positions of the tach and speedo, Ol' Shel' was involved in this one too. In fact, most of the automotive press says that without the GT 500, there would not be a SGT. Thank goodness for that! Personally, I was dead set on a SGT, until we saw one side by side with a GT 500 in the show room. I did not drive either before making my decision. It simply took my wife firing up a GT 500 in the showroom to convince her and, hey, who's to argue with your wife about spending extra $$$ for extra horses? If you will recall the original GT 350's where modified by Shelby's shop out at LAX, while Ford assumed production of the GT 500's.....sound familiar? Not to end on a sour note, but I just can't see comparing Carroll Shelby with PT Barnum.....a little respect, please.
