It is a matter of personal preference. They are both fine cars. Those of us who are older and grew up with Carroll Shelby as part of our world would lean toward the Shelby. Younger folks who are more familiar with the Roush operation may lean in that direction. I have never driven the Roush. I did take my Shelby to Las Vegas for Carroll Shelby's Birthday Bash. As part of that event we had a track day at Las Vegas Speedway. We did a 1.1 mile, 9 turn road course and a 1/4 mile drag race. We had instructors with us on the road course and all felt the Shelby was a well balanced, high performace car. The only complaint was the brakes and many of us are dealing with that with Shelby aftermarket parts or other aftermarket parts.

Good luck with your decision. The good news is that you cannot make a mistake with what you are doing. Jim

A Roush Stage 1 is really only a body kit. The stage 2 is when you get the improved suspension etc. I drove a Stage 2 that was supercharged and enjoyed the car but my Shelby GT is way better. The handling is just as good on curves but more forgiving on rougher roads. I also like the looks of my SGT better as well but that is a personal preference. I advise driving both and coming to your own conclusions on which fits better for you. I know which was better for me.

I really like my Shelby. The only other one I would consider is the Saleen. I went with the Shelby because of the fact that it is a Shelby andI felt that it was a very well balanced car. I will more than likely put a supercharger on it and upgrade the brakes in the future.

I'd suggest trying to drive both, then comparing the costs for each one. Right now, you can get a good deal on a Shelby GT if money is at all a concern. I don't know if Roush or Saleens ever come down much from their MSRP / list price or qualify for any Ford incentives, either. Like others said, you can't really go wrong with such an updgrade from a V6.
