RE: Shelby 500 owners get a real car...
<<The idea of Mustang is understood by all. The Shelby GT500 Cobra KR has an aspiration to seize the day and they are internally inspired to make BOLDMOVES. These Mustangs seek out experiences (big and small) that allow themselves to let loose and feel a wild sense of the moment and they can’t imagine approaching life any other way. For them, the King of Road is a symbol of dreams, of freedom, of possibilities and when you get behind the wheel and crank the engine, Anything is possible.
The Shelby GT500 KR Mustang features a 540 horsepower 5.4L supercharged V8 with Ford Racing Power Pack upgrade, 3.73:1 rear axle ratio, short throw shifter and a beefed up suspension. The exterior of this beast will get a unique Carbon composite hood, 18-inch wheels and special 40th Anniversary badging along with GT500 KR striping. >>
Doesn't the KR have more than 540 and 20-inch wheels?

nope its only 40 more ponies. leave it to ford to try to bring out a car with the same styling with a couple tweaks and then jack up the price. Sorta like the shelbyGT Way over priced.

I'll be honest, I always thought the Shelby GT looked awesome, but was jealous becasue I couldn't buy it at that time.I said the same stuff. "It's way too much. It's just a GT with some upgrades". Boy, was I wrong. I got alot of looks and people asking about my '06 GT, but Lilly blows them away!

2009 Shelby GT500KR Gets The Green Light For Production
Team Shelby - To compliment the one-thousand 2008 40th-Anniversary Edition Shelby GT500KR “King of the Road” Mustangs, Ford and Shelby Automobiles announce that an additional 746 units will be built for the 2009 model year to help meet worldwide demand of the supercar. Of that total, 571 units will be available for U.S. customers thus equaling the 1,571-unit production run of the original Shelby GT500KR. The remainder of the units will be for countries that did not receive 2008 models, including Canada.

Unless your a collector I wouldn't touch a KR with a ten foot pole.
First if it is to retain value it will have to remain low mileage and 100% original. Pretty much buy it and put it in a bubble.
Second, get a GT500 and you can swap to a Ken Belle or Whipple and enjoy the car.
I think buying a KR is like burning money. If you got money to burn and want a trophy car then by all means buy one.
I looked at the KR and was extremely disappointed that for 20k+ more you got little in return. I bought my GT500 at sticker and am happy I did.
First mod is going to be a one piece drive shaft. Not sure if I can get a composite one. All I have seen is Aluminum.
With the KR I would be afraid to mod anything.
