Insurance!!!
Since it varies so much from person to person, and each state has different laws, I'd suggest calling in a few places for quotes. Before you flame, someone could tell you Company A is the cheapest, but when you call, it's the most expensive for you. I happen to work for an insurance company, I'm not a sales agent, but if you want a quote I can give you my buddies number/extension and he wont mind running one for you. Though idk if we insure GT500's. If you give me the vin I can tell you if we do or not.
Do you have to specify that it is a 500? or can you just say GT? The online quotes that I have tried don't list the 500 as an option... only base and GT.
I was told to not mentioned the words "Shelby" or "500"... and to only provide the vin.

Although a GT500 might be a bit different, going from a v6 to a GT has little to do w/ the actual price of insurance. It's that a mustang is considered a sports car regardless of engine. W/ a 500 hp car they might have a special class for that but I would just mention it's a mustang and the vin, that's it.
They will KNOW it's a GT500 going off the VIN. So it doesn't really matter. If you want an accurate quote and it specifies GT or GT500, then be honest.
I found it interesting that when I was shopping cars and budgeting for insurance, my company (Farm Bureau) did not recognize the difference between a regular GT and a Shelby GT. However, the GT 500 was immediately recognizable from it's vin. Apparently there's no indicator in the vin that a GT has been through the Shelby conversion process. I suspect to get a quote comparison, you're going to have to give them the vin and they can figure it out from there...it's all on their database anyway.
