I think it is completely a personal preference on what you like best. I can only speak on the reliabilty and comfort of the gt500, and it hasn't given me any trouble. I *personally* would rather be seen in a gt500!

I have experience with both corvette & mustang since I own both. For long distance driving (highway) I really like the vette. The gas mileage is fantastic and it's geared very low so the rpms stay in the teens at 70-80 mph. For around town or if you're going to be getting in and out of the car frequently then stay away from the vette. Visibility is not great and the car is very low to the ground which make getting in and out a pain. Another important thing to remember is that vettes don't hold their value like Shelby's do so don't buy a new one or you'll lose your shirt on the re-sale. Another thing to know is that vettes don't ride well. You feel all those potholes real bad. I would have to say that for everyday driveability I would go with the GT500. Here are my cars:
