Default shelby's 07 to 11's

hi everyone,

my brother is planning to get a shelby, whatever model he decides to buy, he is planning to change the sc with a kenne bell or a whipple.

his main concern is the performance of the car with least mechanical failure. he would like to know if the engines of the 07-09's are exactly like the 10-11's engines?

why are the 10-11's stock engines more powerful? is it just cuz it has a bigger air intake and a different factory tune?

thanks guys.

Your brother will be happy on his purchase. I would recommend your brother to get the 2011 or the upcomming 2012 GT500. Because you mentioned that he is concern with mechanical failures, most 2007 to 2009 and some 2010 have clutch and flywheel problems. They do have a TSB but not many people are happy with how the dealer performed the repairs. The 2011 has an aluminum engine compare to the 2007 to 10 iron block. It weight less and produced more horsepower than the previous models.

thank you very much. i have noticed that a stock 2011 runs very good. i own a 2008- full exhaust system, 16psi pulley kit with an air intake, upgraded intercooler, 4.10 gears, spec racing clutch and the car is dyno tuned. when i raced my friend's stock 2011 i was ahead of him only by a 2 car distance, while when i race the stock 07-09's i am ahead of them by a huge distance.
