I just bought a 2007 with 1800 miles last week for $32,500. The previous owner even gave me the original window sticker, in-transits and all Ford documentation that came with the car when he ordered it. I found that it is a pretty rare color combo too (red with silver stripes). According to the production numbers just 111 coupes were made in 2007 in this color combo.

Nice car, where did you go to find out that there are only 111 like that? i have been wondering so i can use my VIN# to check what my car is in production numbers.

The site I went to was www.mustangheaven.com You don't actually put in a VIN number as I believe they just tell you how many shelby's were produced each year in each color combo. I am told that a person can find out every spec. by VIN but I am unsure where you go for that at the moment.

Well, there is definitely a lot of first-hand cases of GT500s out there in the price range I'm looking for. Still, I'll be looking to do this next summer, and I'm hoping that by then a 2008 (and maybe a 2009) might be down in that range by then.

I personally think the 2009 Shelby GT500 is the best way to go right now for overall price and performance. So what if the clutch has a few problems, that's so fixable.

For roughly 32k you can find a 450hp car (*underrated on purpose) with low mileage. It has the best stock supercharger whine of any car I've ever heard and the potential to bump the power enormously is pretty easy and somewhat affordable. You also get the 2005-2009 looks, which IMO are still on top. I would much rather have an 09 GT500, than a 2010 or 2012 and keep the extra 10k+ in my *stock portfolio* lol. I'm excited for anybody who gets a chance to make the jump from GT to GT500. I know I am about 5 years away lol, I still love my 07 GT, and at 19 years old, I am sooo satisfied and blessed to have a car to be proud of.

Hi 5th! If you are going with the 07-09 body style then go for the newer 09 as more chances of not getting an early production number means possibly not getting the clutch TSB's. Although if you do get any year with one you hopefully will get one under warrenty that hasnt bypsssed the mileage for it to still be serviced for free.

If its just a price issue then the 07 can be much cheaper but may bring more TSB's then you can shake a stick at and if out of warrenty then the costs will be alot.

Supercharger whine is just
Pull 3 and 4 are the after pulley swap and tune and you can hear the whine change alot

Hey Drifter!

Yeah, I'm hoping for a 2009 for the reasons you mentioned. It's not really a cost issue for me, I could afford a pair of new 2011's right now... but I don't allot that percentage of my income for cars. I like to play... just not *that* much. LOL

Right now, I've got two Stangs in the driveway (his and hers)... she wants the GT500 about as much as me, even though she would never drive it. I just think something under $35k is something I can sleep at night with.

I'll probably start tearing apart Las Vegas around April or so and see what GT500s this city has hiding.

Cool. 2 GT500's so that would be a GT1000?

Off topic question, what headlight tint film are you using and have you removed it before? How hard is it to remove and any residue issues?

I like that look but afraid to do mine

Just simple tint from Autozone. No, I haven't tried to remove it, but it shouldn't be too much different than removing it from glass (even though the headlight covers are plastic). In fact, I've got a small tear in the driver's side one, and plan on redoing it on Sunday... so I guess I'll be able to let you know then.

BTW... I like the sound of a GT1000. Maybe I'll have to invent one.
