Default 2009 GT500

I've noticed that most of the 2007 GT500's with around 30k miles on them are running about $33,000. That's definitely in my affordable price range.

However, I'm not going to be in the market for about another year. So, I was thinking that by then, the 2009's would be in that same range.

Now, before you all start, I HATE the 2010+ body style and it'd be a little too pricey for me anyway.

Question is, are there any serious issues or concerns I should be aware of before buying a used GT500? Are there any "must have" upgrades that I won't be truly happy until I get and will cost me? (So should factor in that cost when making my decision)

Any tips, advice and warnings at all are welcomed. Thanks in advance, I hope to join the GT500 ranks before next Christmas.

I certainly AGREE with your hate of the 2010+ rearend...why I grabbed a 2008 with 558 miles on it last Feb! As far as upgrades...I installed a Brenspeed stage 2 package...LCA's to stop the wheel hop and a dynotech 1 piece DS...clear bra on the entire front...high flow cats with Borla's and a high flow Plenium...Pioneer head to replace the Shaker 1000 head...
I would say the "must have's are the LCA's and the Brenspeed package...(about $1600 for both) (The above is only my opinion of course)...

The 2007 - 2009 GT500s are awesome looking cars. The 2011 models are refined even more, but I prefer the look of the older models.

The infamous clutch drag TSB 10-3-08 is something to keep an eye on. It affects 2007 to 2009 models manufactured up to September 2008. The OEM cera-metallic clutch on these cars are more difficult to manage a smooth 1st gear roll-out than the organic clutch being installed in the 2010+ models and it does have some gear roll-over noise, but that's normal. The latest TSB installs a 2010+ flywheel and clutch, which is as smooth and light to operate as the one in a Honda.

As the others have already mentioned, the main thing to be aware of is the clutch TSB. If you do some searching, you'll find that there are some that have had nothing but nightmares, while others, such as myself, haven't experienced anything *yet* (knocking on wood).

As far as price, zporta & I know someone who is currently in the market looking for a black GT500 and there are definitely deals out there. For example, he just found a 2008 GT500 with a 3.4 whipple, upgraded suspension, 1 piece driveshaft, 1200 miles, etc.. for $32K. Heck, the upgrades on this car are easily worth $10K.

Just have to look around and be patient for the right car.

uh-oh... busted.

"those two guys"

Don't leave yourself out man! Even though I prefer the pre-2010s, I think seeing yours up close is what really gave me the bug. I just can't quite afford the new ones yet, but yours is Sweet!

you should be able to find an 07 with less than 10k miles for $33k with a little searching. I've see them as low as $30k. There is an 08 with 19k miles on autotrader right now for $28,500 in Oklahoma and yes its legit. I called about it and almost bought it a few weeks ago but too many miles for me and not the color I want.
