Don't do it (bypass the clutch safety). (short answer)

Long answer:

There is a thread on here about a dude that did that (even though when he started a similar thread about doing exactly what you are asking about). EVERYONE told him not to because if the car is started in gear on accident it could cause problems/accident etc.

He ignored everyone, did it anyways. About 4 months later there was another thread from him how the dealership had left the car in gear and, someonw the remote start got hit, the car ended up in a pond. Neither insurance nor the dealer covered it as the safety switch had been disabled by the owner and the remote start function is not standard equipment or optional on any manual mustang.

Here's the tread started by the dealer i believe to clarify the situation.

End Dealer response:

IMO dealer had every right to deny they guy ANY compensation. He was well warned.

Is it a good idea to look down the barrel of a gun, uh no. Okay, I do it anways, shoot myself and get brain damage, now I will sue the gun mfg because i was stupid and they didn't do enough to prevent me from being stupid.

^ Thanks for the links, and the laughs. I forgot about this situation. I really cracks me up how so many people think that once they leave their car in someone elses possession that any and all events fall on to that person. I'm sure the owner of that car learned a very valuable, and very expensive lesson.
