i know that the 03 and 04 cobras come supercharged (some do anyway) but what years do the saleen come supercharged in the same body style. i dont like the05-07 mustang look. and which is faster. which has more hp??

except for the ultra rare Slaeen Cobra. The regular '03-'04 Cobra is king, the after that is the Extreme Saleen sc281. Then the sc281 saleen. non supercharged Saleens are S281. of the regular sc281's '03 and '04 are the beter ones wtih teh whipple supercharger. before that they had the eaton. The extreme sc281 has a bigger whipple than the reular sc281 and also has forged internal rotating assembly whereas the reuglar sc281 uses stock Ford internals untouched.

All 03-04 Cobras (terminators) come with an Eaton S/C rated at 390BHP. An 03-04 Saleen S/C I believe is rated at 385BHP...someone with more knowledge than I about the 03-04 Saleens will chime in. The cobra is faster than the S/C Saleen but I dont believe they are faster than the Extremes of that year...Mills?

The 03-04 cobra claim to have 390 Basic Horsepower.. But since ford was trying to keep it in a certain class and status, they only labeled it at 390 BASIC horsepower but any stock 03-04 cobra will put anywhere from 385-400 rear wheel horsepower. Dont know why they didnt advertise with more horsepower but its the same concept behind some of the shelby's in the 60s. The engine in an 03-04 cora will rape most any saleen unless you are willing to pay for the extra dough on the saleen. The "terminator" is an amazing car and if you looking to be over 500 hp, for about 1000 bucks worth of bolt ons go with the cobra. But if you want an all around sweet *** car go with the saleen. Its the trade off between style and power. Boths cars are bad *** but the style and handling on the saleen is something that makes me quiver. To me its worth the little decrease in power

Over on the SVT section, most of the guys that dynoed their 03 or 04 Cobras put down 365 to 375 to the rear wheels in stock trim (which is still much better than what the 390 crank hp advertised specs are). My 2002 Extreme dynoed 355 rwhpand was advertised as 425bhp/440tq. The 03 - 04 Extremes got a 20 hp bump, though I've never seen what onedynoed.

When you think about how heavy the 03 - 04 Cobras are (about 300 pounds heavier than comparable year Saleens), the earlier Extremesand an 03 or 04 Cobra probably would have been a decent race. Unfortunately, seeing an unmodified 03 - 04 Cobra is not dissimilar than catching Halley's Comet on its next go around......and if you do see one unmodified.....immediately go to the nearest gas station and play the lottery .

Also, as Thecarpen mentioned, you can put 470 rwhp down in an 03 - 04 Cobra by literally blinking at it . The 03 - 04 Cobras are definately the best bang-for-the-buck Mustang produced in a long time!

thanks because when i get back from iraq in may i wasnt sure which to trade my 03 gt for. im running a 14.12 and i would love to see the 12s. im at the track alot so im going with the 03-04 cobra. my car is paid off so its cheaper to go with the cobra. otherwise i would have to get forged internals, buy the sc, get it put in, its about the same amount of money. and with a cobra i would have a 4vnot a 2v like my GT. and it already has aforged short block. thanks again

I believe in stock trim the extreme was faster and could handle better of course. But if you plan on modifying the cars the cobra is king. Just get the cobra and throw the new 3.4L whipple blower.
