I've got about $14,000 cash right now first off. Second they called a guy at Saleen and they said they can add the Saleen body package to it.
This is no different than having the dealer or a local shop add the Saleen body package to it... except Saleen will charge you more, and it will take longer. It still won't be a Saleen.ORIGINAL: Dboy23

Um yeah it is, every Saleen starts out as a Mustang GT and they just convert it, them doing it to a V6 won't be any different, it'll still have all the stuff your Saleen has besides the engine which I don't want.ORIGINAL: EricM

The above would make itan authentic Saleen even though it would likely NOT be numbered...... interesting

Your "saleen" will not be numbered or registered as all real Saleens are. The is NO DIFFERENCE with doing it yourself or sending it to Saleen. they would do the same thing you could do yourself. nothing extra. so your paying for their expensive labor. It wont be considered an authentic saleen. i hope you dont think it will be just because Saleen does it for you.

Uhm, no it isn't. You're not going to win this arguement anywhere, much less in the Saleen section. You will have a Mustang with a Saleen body kit, period. Your car will not be registered in the Saleen registry, it will not have a serialized number, etc etc. It'll be a v6 with a body kit and nothing more. And it sure won't sound like our cars, as you stated above. The more and more I read your posts, then more and more you sound like a dreamer. There's hundreds of posts on this site with the same exact formula: "I have xx amount of dollars, what should I do?" Then you have a 2 or 3 page thread with suggestions and options, and nothing ever comes of it. The dream money and OPer suddenly disappear and I have never once seen a thread where it started as I said and then the OP comes back with "Well this is what I did, here's some pics." In the event that you've been truthful here, you've got 2 options. Buy a Saleen, or buy your V6 and have the body kit put on. You also might be the very first person on this forum that has ever said I don't want the V8, I want the V6. And you can make the arguement that you are trying to save money, but that is certainly not the case if you are gonna waste your savings on something like this. If you had to have the 05+ body Mustang and wanted to save money, you would just buy a used GT or v6, whichever, and be content. ORIGINAL: Dboy23

Anyhow, back to the above post, there is a local dealer that is not, in fact, a Roush dealer, but does take GTs and adds the Roush packages. Are they a true Roush? No. They are a GT with an aftermarket Roush package...

So if you were to buy the above car, you are going to lose close to $15k just by driving off the lot, because it is only a custom GT. Sure, it looks like a Roush, and has 95% of what a true Roush comes with, but it's simply not a Roush. So resale value would be that of a used GT, whereas if you have a serialed Roush, Saleen, Steeda, etc, the resale will be significantly more.
Whether you are full of it or not, we're trying to help you. Not to be rude, but personally, I couldn't care less what you do, as it is your money, and that entitles you to do with it what you want, but you asked all of us for our opinions, then give us reasons why our opinions are "wrong". Besides, I do, in fact, have a Saleen... serialized, with the suspension and power that a Saleen is known for.

Saleen does NOT make a V6 version of there car and they never have. The dealer is more than likely feeding you a load of BS. Not to sound rude, but do some flipping research on what you want out of a car and what you want/can afford to spend on a vehicle. Then come back and talk to us. As ChiDiddy said, I think your full of it. At 17, there are a lot better things you can do with your money than blow it on a 35k car even if you could afford to pay cash for it.
Ihave been watching this unfold, fist of all it looks like this guy lives in michigan may be close to saleen, easy enough to get body panels for 05 and laterORIGINAL: Saleen326

RE: Saleen Conversion.
Mike, now that I think about it, Saleen did make a V6 sport in 94. No frills car though. Mainly just the suspension and wheels. No body kit whatsoever. They were not numbered Saleens though and only a couple dozen were produced. This is the only picture I find on them:
