I would love to add a blower to my Fox........eventually. I want to work on everything else first to restore it and make it reliable.

its about the tuning.
mass air reads the actuall air flow
sd looks up a table of air density for any giving parameter.

for me the maf is just another electrical part that can go out and give you headaches.
either way if you do mod youll have to get a tune regardless to get the most out.

besides iv seen guys run bigass blocks and running huge turbos who prefer sd because the lack of airflow restriction(mass air meter)

imo

If it means anything - I'm staying with speed density because I've also heard SD responds extremely well if you get things perfect as far as tuning is concerned. I'm going to go that route before even attempted swapping for mass air, as I would like to see what I can get out of it since everyone else seems to want to straight-up ditch speed density without even trying to work with it. I'll let you know how things go when I get all my parts put in soon.

grindman the mass air system is good for "plug and play" since the meter reads the air intake.
with sd you dont need a new comp just a tune system such as Tweecer, accel dfi,
FuelAirSparkTech aka FAST or the Megasquirt systems.
these are either piggy back (they mount on you comp such as the tweecer) or stand alone(they replace your comp like the megasquirt)

a guy sometime ago on these forums SN: samseed was running the tweecer.

and adder is using the megasquirt system

they both allow for tuning but require a certian degree of knowledge.

and Tim back when Chip Haveman was running his turboed fox he was sd with the FAST eng managment, no maf and shredding tires

DFI = Digital Fuel Injection ....FAST is a maker of DFI
