How much clearance is under hood between the air filter and hood for you who have carbs.

I will be using an air gap and a 4150 and a half inch spacer. I dont know if ill need a drop base or if a regular base air cleaner will do.

 

Anybody?

 

Since there are no takers....could someone tell me what the distance is from the top of the intake (stock efi) to the hood? Also what is the height of the stock intake? (10.5"?)

you still could give me the numbers though, ill just subtract 1-1/2 for a rough estimate.

 

I'm using a Victor Jr, it has the same rear height at the RPM air gap (5.50 inches) I'm using no spacer and a Moroso drop filter with 3 inch filter. I had to cut a hole in the hood under the scoop for clearance on my 85.

 

So yours is sticking out through the hood, but is under the scoop correct?

 

I have about 2.25 inches from my aircleaner to my hood. Give or take a 16th or so.
