Default 1986 MAF swap computer choice

Hey all,

In the coming months I want to swap my car from speed density to MAF, I did some research and I know I need an A9L computer for the conversion.

my question is, besides getting the computer out of another fox, are there any other options out there? Like any aftermarket computers that will work the same while maybe offering more flexibility with tuning? The car is a 5 speed manual

I would be concerned mostly with the calibration of the Mass Air Sensor matching the injector size. Ford Motorsports used to offer a MAF kit which used the same parts as in the 1993 Cobra, which meant bigger injectors, and a matching PCM.

Holley, megasquirt and pro-m all make complete stand alone systems but it really depends on what you want to do. If you're leaving it more a less stock, a a9l will work. If you're planning a bunch of mods it may be best to go with another setup, or just get it tuned when you are done with everything. I'm pretty sure that quarter horse makes a system that interfaces with the stock computer and allows you to modify settings yourself. Another member here trimdrip has done a lot with them in the past.

Don't waste your time or money with a stock ECU.

Start here if you're tight on money.
