even playing catch up, it wont be very difficult. The kids driving DSMs would kill to be able to pull as hard as a stock mustang does. then again, there is always that one random guy who knows what hes doing and puts the damn thing in the 10s. But stock or lighly modded they are nothing to worry about.

Rule of thumb: Start at 1500 and work your way up until you find the sweet spot.

Good luck, and I hope you kill him good. I am an avid hater of DSMs and all of their evil, so deliver a chach punch to the kid once you get your launches down.

Is there a specific reason why you hate DSM'S? lol, i hear alot of people say that but i never understand a real reason why?

Redmustang83596.....................A GSX running a 15.3? in stock form no try mid to high 14's, but with no tuning and a intake then the 15.3 is deffinitly about the time it will run. Mitsubishis are HORRIBLE with intakes a now tuning.
Back to the original post.......I was messing around with one of my freinds in his 00 the other day, suprisingly quick on top end. Seemed faster than my freinds older 5.0, I got him by a little i mean a basically stock evo 9 mr has no business on top end with a v8 of any kind but that was one of my first run ins with one of the 4.6s and i was impressed to say the least. But dont underestimate the DSM man. With street tires youll be playing catch up, and not a good place to be versus a turbo car. Practice your launch, if possible get some better tires(if not already got them) and eat him alive. In stock form they are slow but with a few mods can be made into some nasty little 4 cylinders.
I tend to consider no tuning and intake as being stock..... and even with tuning and an intake (talking from experience) they might just break the 14s. Now, if the kid fools with the turbo, it could be all over the place assuming he knows what hes doing.
Stock means the way the sar came from the factory, not what consider to be stock. I have 3 GSX'S currently sitting in my back yard(only reason is because everytime me and my freinds would go to the track SOMETHING would break and we needed a part and 95-99 GSX's are hard to find, so i bought parts cars.) Have a spare 4g63 motor in my freinds garage, built countless numbers of them, and have a couple freinds with 2gs running in the low 11' and high tens, so i believe i speak from experience also. I was not trying to imply that this car was gonna be killing him, but if the guy can drive the GSX the mustang will go down. Even if he cant drive hardly at all he will go down simply because of the AWD. He can launch at any RPM he wishes and the original post was from a guy asking what to shift at(not an expert driver to say the least). And to pull back the 3 car lengths that a AWD car can pull out of the hole on a rear wheel drive car it better have a damn good driver. Its not like the GT makes and *** load more power than a stock gsx and that much of a difference is hard to make up when your just spinning. Oh and by the way i broke 14s in my STOCK gst. Geuss those magazines ratings your going by must just have some ****t drivers, lol. and with the stock turbos on the 2gs guys are running low low 13's and if they go with a stock turbo off of a older model they are running deep in the 12's, and the average person will never be able to tell just by looking at the turbos on the car. So watch out with those cars, hardly no one gives them credit witch is why i love them so much cause people talk **** about them then get spanked by them. lol Good luck to the guy who posted originaly, i honestly hope you win i always pull for the underdawg, and from a stop you are. Race him and let us now how it goes soon.

I think I misunderstood you earlier. I thought u were calling a car with a new intake and a tune "stock". It sounded like u said stock form it will run mid 14s, but then you take OFF an intake and tune (which would have to be aftermarket if ur going to take off a tune) and then u run 15s. Unless DSMs lose performance with boltons I dont understand what ur saying there. Ive seen stock gsxs, and drove a lightly modded gs-t for a bit. they have the hp/weight, but when down low torque is what really matters and thats where the GT will just reel them in. Im not sure if ur talking to me in that last part anymore, cuz i didnt quote any magazines.

hey
well my cousin and i are gonna run our cars pretty soon...my cousin has an eclipse gsx(4 wheel drive, turbo) what i want to know is where should i launch at?? and when should i shift in to 2 and the other gears.. and we both know im gonna win for now..but he is going to put a bigger turbo in his car within the month. my car is stock and he has an intake..thanks
Why, do they always go with a bigger turbo? Do they want turbo lag? Hell, put a header on, full exhaust, boost controller and tires. If he has enough cash for a bigger turbo, then he should stroke the little 4 and tune it. The only exception should be when the turbo is obviously too small for the motor, but they're usually not.

I know a few guys (one has an Eclipse GST--Turbo, FWD) with a race motor and a big-ass turbo. If he could tune the thing, he'd be allright, but it's extremely inconsistent. They always slap on a big turbo and lose HP from lack of supporting mods and the like. Oh well...

You really do need to get a different turbo for the 2nd gens if you really want to go fast. The T25 is just too small in most cases. Most people do IMO go a little bigger then they need to just so theycan have a huge turbo under the hood. In most cases if people would just tune the car right and get all the supporting mods they could do what they wanted with a smaller turbo. Hell there is a guy running 10's with a 14b but people with huge *** turbos in a lot of cases dont run faster then 12's.

yea... but not everyone wants a good 1/4 time, some people just like going really fast and destroying people on the freeway when the monster turbo has already spooled up.... but your right lotsa people go too big... when they wanna go fast in a 1/4 mile..... GSTs are lighter that the GSXs but the GSXs can make 14s stock without a doubt seen it, most people just dont know how to drive.... :-/
