Chevy, ick. Well at least it wouldnt be a small block. Who cant build one of those anyway? They arent that great of an engine anyway. If you are doing a 396 why not do a 427 or a 454? But if you wanna go fast cheap, just build a Pontiac 455 becuz the parts are cheaper than BBC and not much more than a SBC, sometimes less, plus they need alot less machine work to be right and live.

Because the 396 would be a bored 350, whilest a decent 427 would have to be an iron block to accomodate.

Completely assembled my engine will weigh equal to or less than an LS6 and make about 200-300 more hp and ft lbs of torque. When I can afford it I will have it dropped into an 02 SS body with upgraded suspension, drivetrain, etc. This is still in the planning stages.

back on topic... the sti will get owned from a roll. if the kid was in the wrong gear i respect the win from the non-dumbass driver. a kid with an evo told me that he was in the wrong gear when he lost to me. i laughed at him and smoked him from a light.

to silver 50 guy: if he is stock you will walk him from a roll. even small mods will allow him to get beat. if he has no cats and boost controller... look out!

since i went back and read some of your posts iwrxit, you seem to be a pretty straight guy, what about from a stop? (even after the initial launch that is?)

the awd suck down so much power that you should easily outpower him w/ cats. i only trapped 96 mph to break 13's
i have trapped over 100 on a few bad launches. best runs were usually 13.3@101. my car looks stock, dont be fooled. all i've done is modifed headlights. looking at my car you can see my grape fruiter shooter and thats it. you, however cant see that it's a 3" straight pipe all the way to the turbo, nor the pipe from the engine to turbo or boost controller set at 17.5 psi, or my completely remapped ecu, or my etc.....just a stock looking car with an exhaust silencer, sometimes!

17.5 PSI and you haven't sent rods through the bottom of your block yet? Or does your ECU remap have a lot of fuel system changes?

Because the 396 would be a bored 350, whilest a decent 427 would have to be an iron block to accomodate
um

How much are you boring that 350 out? Last I checked you can get 7-10 inches out of one before you're drilling through the water jacket. Is that like a 383 stroker bored .090" over?
And unless you're going to drop serious coin on an aluminum block 350, it's still going to be irn anyway. []

I found somewhere a 350 block which you could bore out to 400 cubic inches. I mighta been lied to, I'll cross that bridge when I get there.
