Autos dont suck!!!
Auto's definetly lauch better, they are more consistant, and are ALOT of fun if you have the power to back it up... I see you don't have much done to your car so you wouldn't understand.... Once you start going fast, 11's and under, an auto has alot of benefits...
i dont plan on getting my mustang into the 11's unless its a long time down the road and i have a second vehicle. yes if u want to race all the time and have the fastest car possible built auto all the way. but i mean for people who drive their car everyday i think the manual is more fun personally.
and i meant less room for error...less room meaning if you mess up your time is severly affected...or like a brain surgeon theres no room for error. he messes up the person dies. etc.
maybe you were thinking i was saying that there is less opportunities for error with a manual...I can see how that could get confused.

technically, most parts are 'bolt ons"...
but anyways, to change the TC, you have to remove the transmission. if you were to remove an entire auto trans, and set it on the ground, the large "drum" inside of the bell housing (the front of the trans) is the torque converter.
Look at this picture...the part in blue is the TC.

or have a look at this, they have pictures and such
