Autos dont suck!!!
Im tired of hearing people talk about how slow autos are. They are just as fast as manuels IMO, especailly if you have the shift points adjusted with a tuner. Lets start a hot debat. Bring it.
haha. true, they dont "suck" per say, just, stock for stock, 5-spds are better. less power loss, and some people can shift a manual as fast as an auto can. ive ridden in some SLOOOOW shifting auto's b4. plus, ive never owned an automatic car, and dont plan to, unless i lose one of my legs, or get too old/weak and cant push the clutch. other than that, 5-spd, well, manual trans. lol at least for a street car anyway. strictly strip, sure, auto is the way to go. more consistant.
IDK with a good driver manuals will own any auto even with a tuner, if the driver had skills the manual will come out on top... but with a crappy driver I think an auto will do rather well speaking of which I think they should pass a law saying little bastards with rich daddies and suck drivers aren't allowed to own the new shelby's that are coming out... a wreck with one of those would make me get pretty steamed if it was someone like that... oh yea heres my times with my auto

I was so happy when i got my tuner on my car and started messing with it. Adjusted the shift points and the shift firmness. It feels nice and hard on the shifts.

it has nothing to do with shift points and shift "stiffness"...the reason that an manual is "better" than an automatic is because the manual has less internal weight, thus less loss through the drivetrain.
if you put your car on a dyno, even with your tuner and mods, and then got a car, similar to yours, with the exact same mods, but with a manual trans, the mtx equipped car with yield better dyno numbers...however, dyno numbers dont mean much, and JD1969 picked up quite a bit of time when he switched from his M6 to his A4, but i believe that his A4 is built.

My A4 is stock with a 4000 stall. To be fair though you can't compare my car to a Stang. The T56 has a terrible 1 st gear ratio that makes it hard to get a good 60 out of the car, where the T5 is a better trans for drag racing (although not always the strongest trans). In a Stang, stock for stock, with equal drivers the manual will win every time. Now a smart auto owner will just put a 3500+ rpm stall in thier car, get some good tires and pick up nearly 1/2 a second, but most people are afraid of a real stall and go way too low. As irrelivant as it is, my car went from a best 60 foot of 1.81 on a 12.1 @ 114.7 when it was an M6, to a 1.54 on a 11.80 @ 113.22 with the A4 and stall, NO OTHER CHANGES were made. Sure I lost a a liitle over one mph but I'll take the better 60 foot anyday, I can always find more HP
