i thnk ur toast unless u do a quick head swap. cam would put u way out ahead of him. 91 wasnt the best year for the ol 5.0
What the hell are you talking about? Head swap, 91 not a good year.... 85 through 93 were fantastic years for the 5.0, some could argue 86 wasn't for obvious reasons the biggest of which was swirl port heads.
Some simple work on any 87 to 93 fuel injected 5.0 with stock heads, stock computer can get you into the very low 13's to high 12's, on the cheap to say someone needs a head swap and that 91 isn't a good year speaks to how little you understand the 5.0. Not to be a dick but giving out crap advice like you did doesn't help, it hurts.

no offense guys, but you are REALLY off on your numbers about the foxes.

86-92 5.0L was rated at 225hp 300ft lbs tq weight (lx) somewhere around 3100lbs
93 5.0L was rated at 205hp 290ft lbs tq

EDIT: just for referance:
2003 srt-4 turbocharged in line 4: 215hp 245ft lbs tq
2004 srt-4 turbocharged in line 4: 230hp 250ft lbs tq weight-2970lbs
im pretty sure the sn95 5.0s were rated at 215hp

if its an 03, you have more hp, way more tourqe, not that much more weight.
if its an 04, I think he will get you.

I think from a dig you have a chance, I still think those skittles are over rated no matter how much hype they get, similar to the colts [:'(]
Acutally, the '86 put out 200hp, I give up on correcting anything else...

OK, my one buddy has an SRT4 and asks me all the time to race him with my 91 LX 5.0 all the time. Just out of curiosity, do any of yous think that an SRT4 could beat my stang? I have ram air induction, racing pulleys, stage 2 clutch, short shifter, bbk headers. Comments?
Does the short shifter have stop bolts on it? What rear gears are you running, the stock 3.08's or 2.73's? I believe you said you have a convertable, this gets you a little bit heavier. Explain the ram air, is it a CAI or one that runs into the fender? Has the timing been changed or are you running stock timing? It's soooooo easy to get that car to move faster give me the details I've asked for and I can help.

Oh yeah, have you bypassed the intake water lines? Install a 160 thermostat, bypass the coolant line running into the intake, bump up the timing, use better gas after doing so and if you do race him make sure you have that engine as cold as possible, it will make a difference.

Some easy things to do to get some kick out of that 5.0 also are to have the heads worked on, a simple clean up and port job will make a big difference.
My buddy went 11.01@125 with an '86 LX Hatch, a Paxton supercharger, '87 heads we opened up and cleaned up ourselves, bypassed power stearing, full headers, custom blower cam and a completely stock '86 shortblock and a stock computer, oh yeah, bleeders because the SOB was speed density, a switch to MAS Air was done a year later.

Don't think that because you're running a Fox and a 5.0 that you can't make some serious power, you can, and it won't cost much.

If it is an 04 than I think he will win.

Ive seen stock 04 SRT's run high 13's all night long. Not unless you know how to launch and powershift hard.

The only thing you have over him is torque so you going to get him out of the hole. But he is lighter and has more hp so he might beat you on top end.

Get some 3.73 - 4.10 gears and some good tires and leave him at the line. That way you'll have a beater chance of outrunning him before he can catch up.

GOOD LUCK

Tell us how the race went!

I have the 3.08's, my ram air comes up along the fender, not CAI, and stock timing. No the water lines have not been bybassed. I would appreciate your help. I am only a senior in highschool so anything that will improve my stang's performance cheap will help.

The only things for free that i can think of is:

Advance the timing from base 10* to about 14-15* (this can be worth up to 3 tenths in the quarter mile.)

Powershifting

Gut your whole interior

Bypass the a/c, p/s, s/p with a shortbelt (about $10.00)

Heat the sh** out of your tires

Pray for a good launch!
