Well I guess it's time that I bring you in on GM's big secret. The LS1 in the Vette,Camaro,Goat and Pontiacs all get the same on the dyno. The Vette is much lighter which makes it faster than all of them. GM fabricated those HP numbers so Corvette owners wouldn't get their panties in a bunch. Less than $ 800 in mods and the LS1 Camaros were beating stock LS1 Vette's. Hence the creation of the LS6. A engine not shared on any other platform but the Z06.

 

i read somewhere, prolly on here from a GM guy that there were a few f-bodies that ended up with an LS6 too

 

They had the LS6 block. Not the entire setup, just the block.

 

With a chip, my '03 vic aerodymically topped out at around 138... damn light bar!

Idaho police forces HAD one, but it got hit by a car. but Idaho does have a large amount of Edge Cobras, even a 2000 Cobra R stuck in Sun Valley to run them rich folk down. A few Terminators, and a a good deal of '99&'01s with engine stuff done to it. You'd be surprised at the amount of faster cars in Idaho. I still am, and I've lived here my whole life.

 

There is a few Police Camaros in Green Bay. Late F-Body ones with nasty sh*t done to them. I know a few of them have Nitrous. They bring them to car shows once in awhile. Good guys too!

 

Just the block. Everything else was from the LS1. (heads, cam, pushrods,etc..)

 

f'real. Before the chip it was 122. One of our guys got in a chase with a motorcycle on a 4-lane divided highway; me and another traffic guy were racing to catch up to the chase as he was by himself. The other traffic guy had had his car chipped before mine... he was on my bumper the entire way until the right lane cleared up and I could move over for him; then he passed me and sucked my headlights out. I had my car chipped (at a mustang performance shop!) the next week. [&:]

Rarely do we see speeds like that, except on this particular highway; and then generally only when catching up. I did clock a bike at 144, turned around him, caught up to him (not at 144, obviously)... but then he started lane-splitting. Hard to lane-split in a Crown Vic. Needless to say, he got away; as I was the only deputy on that side of the county at the time. [] For a while, I had the highest clocked speed record for the agency, but then another traffic unit got a different bike (same highway) at 148... and CAUGHT HIM. (because the guy on the bike stopped. [8D] )

 

Out around my area in Michigan, I'm seeing a decent and (in some areas) increasing amount of Dodge Magnums and the one that scared me... The Dodge Charger. I watched it pull out of sub-division onto a main road with it's lights on at a low speed. Then when he put it down his tires kicked up smoke as he took off down Walton Avenue. From what I've heard the police chargers here are supposedly Super Charged. They have a nice black and white paint job (very very shiny with an old school look), but they're jaw dropping when they take off. I've also heard the SC rumor for the Auburn Hills police Intrepids from close family friends at a couple of the Chrysler and Dodge dealerships. Garden City suppposedly has a Twin-Turbo Camaro that the only purpose of it is to get infront of the perp and either run it to a halt or slam on the brakes. Kinda scary... My goal is still to one day out-run the Oakland County Viper cop.


Oh, BTW... Hello. I'm new here. I just joined to research my friends 04 Mustang V6 for him. I really like the site and especially how organized a lot of it us. The search feature works quite nicely and I've found a lot of informative and interesting posts. I've always liked the rumble of the new Mustangs but I have 69 Plymouth Barracuda and live in Mopar family. I would probably be injured for treason if I converted . So it's partially why I'm excited to help to him out. That and I love when vehicles are done right.
