Default Not enough power

Alright guys, I'm not trying to complain and say I didnt get beat. But yesterday I was driving around and a 96-98 GT is coming up on me, not too fast, but enough to catch me, so when he gets next to me I go alittle bit and he falls back. So then we catch a light and I dont think hes gonna go so I take off normal, (in my auto). And at about 20mph I know my auto is already in 3rd and he takes off and by the time I punch it hes about 2 cars in front so I say f*ck it and slow down. Not really a race, but I figured I would have caught him from 20-60mph, but I didnt. Then as I was going back the other way after paying my insurance an 04 GT pulls out of a gas station so I just keep going at about 50mph and finally he catches up and we dont really do anything so we catch the light. He doesnt even look over or anything, and I know he didnt have exhaust and it was auto just like mine. So anyways I figured he was gonna take off so when the light turns green I punch it and after about 35mph or so I slow down because he doesnt go, then all the sudden he takes off and flys by me, and again there was no use in trying to catch him since he was already gone. I know I shouldnt be disappointed about this, but I feel I should have caught the 96-98 GT by 60. Anyways, my question is, does anybody know what my 01 GT with auto and o/r h-pipe with 10 series Flows would run if I put a Kenne Bell 1.7 on my car and nothing else. I mean after the S/C I would do a tune and probably get gears. But nothing else but KB, gears, and exhaust, what would I run in the 1/4? Thanks guys. I know its a pretty blunt question and has been asked a million times, but I really wanna know so I can think about getting a KB. Thanks.

Well your going to have to get the supporting mods for the KB supercharger but I think the essentials come with the kit. I'm not sure but you will probably run mid to low 12's.

he'd want to upgrade his fuel delivery and get a shift kit for his auto, just for good measure. Need a proper dyno tune though, always a must with aftermarket F/I

I know of some people with just exhaust and S/C and thats it. All the things I need come with the S/C just to bolt on, I'd just need to get gauges, and a tune.

Those people are living on borrowed time then. I'm not sure what all comes with the KB kit, but I know you would have to get a bigger fuel pump and bigger injectors at the very least. You'd really do well to get a forged bottom end too, but I think that the stock bottom end should be good for about 400hp or so. Anything above that and you are just asking for a blown engine. You'd see the best results with full exhaust, but you can get away with just a high-flow catted mid pipe and a catback. Let's see, gears would be good too. You already said a tune, so you know that those are essential when doing FI. Oh, and some sticky tires. KB + gears + stock tires = no traction.
Stay safe and good luck with it!

If you want power, you need more fuel to go with that extra air. A large fuel pump and 42lbs+ injectors would do the trick. Thats the bare minimum of what you need for F/I

Sorry for not saying this, but my complete list would be:
KB 1.7
4.10 gears
Focus fuel pump
42lb injectors
tune
Nitto D/R's or BFG DR's
U/L control arms
Eibach pro-kit

Personally I would do a suspention upgrade because you will find it alot easier to get traction. 400hp+ can turn out to be a pain in the *** when launching with a standard GT suspention.

I fixed my last post and added suspension. And to be honest with you, with a basically stock GT with a 1.7KB S/C, I think I'll only see about 350rwhp.

Only? You say that like it's a bad thing! I know, I know, there is much more potential to be had with the KB. And good catch on the suspenion thing C6Vette!
So, it sounds like you have it all in the bag now. Good luck!
