no doubt the new mustangs are doggs but it never was aimed at strictly high performance
its bang for the buck performance and it has to be leveled out somewhere.. ford took the hit under the hood. the new gt500 is designed to fix that but the $50k+ price tag is not worth it.
thats not sayin the LS1 isnt a bang for the buck but ive never seen anyone under 20 own one (without having rich parents). the LT1 is definitely getting cheaper by the day and the LS1 is not far behind

The new stangs are a full second faster than the Foxbodies....they're not doggs. Actually, the new Mustangs are the fastest GT's produced...well, EVER.

quickest mustang ever? wat about the 2004 svt cobras? they ran high 12s out of the box
im not sure on what the gt500 runs ive heard mixed reviews but for 50 grand i would hope its quicker than the cobra
