Maxima

Oh cool you work on Nissans. What do you think of the Versa? I was considering replacing the Cobra with one.
I've always liked Maximas. My mom owned one and it was very quite and smooth. Was a little bummed when they dropped the four door sports car designation back in the early 90's. I do give Nissan credit for offering a stick in the Altima and Maxima back when Honda didn't offer a stick in the V6 Accord sedan and V6 Camry's with stick were few and far between.
Hey Grn what do youy think of the 2007 Altima. They look really nice and have a lot of cool features.

honestly tho, the Versa's....SUCK !!! i drove one, with a 6 SPEED. a 6-spd....wtf r they thinking. either way, SLOW.
the Altima's and Max's tho. im sure theyre just going to give them more creature comforts. we havent had any '07 Altimas or Maxima PDI's yet(pre delivery inspections; when they get delivered to the dealership). like the Max's now have the CVT like the Murano's(one of Nissan's suvs) do. no "shift surge" when it shifts. just belts and chains. no valves, or valvebody. just belts and chains. more sh*t to go wrong imo. oh well. i dont design them, i just work on them. lol but, id LOVE to have an SE-R Altima. i built one today online actually, and with 3 Nismo accessories(lowering springs, swaybars, and spoiler), AND destination charges, $33k. not bad imo. my price would be like $25/26k. with warranty. and id get paid to do work on my own car
but, overall, Nissan's aren't bad vehicles. ive always liked Nissan's. they make an all around well car.

ROFL!!!! How about the Mazda 5 then? LOL! J/K I'd go sit in the Cobra but it's at the dealer having a new alternator installed. I've been curious as to how well the CVT in the Murano has been holding up. Must be a strange experience to drive since there is no surge during shifts. I read they are putting it in the new Altima so you will have yet another car to work on. They are also making a hybrid as well. The price for the Altima SE-R isn't bad, especially for the price you could get it for. Nissan's 3.5 ltr. V6 is a terrific engine. I went on a long road trip in a 2001 Pathfinder and found it to be a great vehicle.

the CVT's seem to be holding up pretty well. no problems yet. at least not that ive been there. b4 then, who knows. and yes, its VERY wierd, not having a surge, especially in an suv, and especially since im used to driving my car, shifting gears, and feeling torque....everybody's tryin to make everything more "comfortable". yet, in my mind, its just more sh*t to go wrong in all honesty. and like i said, that SE-R, had mods on it also from NISMO. so, w/o the mods, itd be right at $30k. so, a lil cheaper, but not much. the only thing about the 3.5, performance wise, is they really did OVERengineer it. they got the most hp out of it possible from factory. the only real way to make power with them is forced induction, and we all know thats not cheap. but, id like to actually DRIVE one stock and see how it does. i have seen vids of a stock Altima SE-R beat the hell out of a 350Z in a drag race...i loved it

That's good to hear. In regards to the 3.5 being overengineered, that's what happened to Mercedes a while back. Tuners and even Mercedes had to go forced induction. Another thing I give Nissan credit for is offering performance parts through the dealer. Granted it't nothing mega but still pretty cool. My friend wants to get the NISMO exhaust and header for her Sentra SE-R Spec V. She already has the CAI. It makes a cool induction sound when you get to the upper rpms. Oh and being able to beat sports cars with a 4 door sedan is priceless.

well, Nissan isnt the only one who offers performance parts through the dealer....i mean, c'mon man........youve got Ford Racing, GM's high performance company, Toyota has TRD.....theyre not the only ones. unless u mean, being able to do it when u pick it up from factory. then, yeah. its pretty cool. maybe Ford and GM dont do it. idk. never bought a new car.......yet. the SE-R Spec-V's are okay, but in all honesty, she couldve done better. the 2.5's are seriously, Nissan's SH*TTIEST engines....EVER. the '06 Altima's and Sentra's arent allowed to be sold due to an oil consumption problem. so, the 2.5's and the 1.8's. we had a bunch on the lot, and have them on hold, as in, cant be sold, due to the problem til they figure out what to do with them.

I know Ford and GM offer go fast parts. Dinan offers parts through certain BMW dealerships and if they are installed their they get covered under your warranty. I just like to give props to any manufacturer that offers things like that. I don't know much about the problems regarding the 2.5. I did hear they stopped production. My friend hasn't had any issues with her SE-R other then a throttle body sensor that was replaced under warranty. Yeah there are other cars she could have gotten but the Si wasn't out at the time and when she went to look at a SRT-4 the salesman was a jerk. He tried to tell her the car on the lot just arrived but the truth was it had been sitting for over a month. She had looked at it a while ago and had the VIN # to prove it. Believe me the SE-R was a big step up from the Diesel Golf she was trading in. LOL!

You will like this. She went from a Miata to a New Beetle to a Diesel Gold. Her SE-R is a 05 I think. Oh and yes I hate most salesmen.

I think she traded in the Miata because she needed more room and something more reliable. The Golf was purchased after she was in an accident in the Beetle. She no longer felt safe in it and also needed a car that got very good mileage. That Golf was a a lease and she turned it in at the end for the SE-R. Too be honest I found the car a lot of fun to drive. The LSD works really well on the hairpin turn into my neighborhood.
The SE-R Altima is better and she agrees. Just can't afford it right now.
