I just bought my first mustang, a 96 GT. Prior to that car I owned a 83Z28, 92RS ans 92Z28 camaro. All three had the 305's. Go to some of the camaro websites and you can find threads on this very subject and how to mod your car to beat a mustang. There are those out there that think the camaro's are fast. But when most of them are V6's and 305's the suffer the same fate as the mustang. Every kid out there with a civic wants to race you. My 96 GT, while about the same horsepower as my 92Z28 seems much faster. Performace upgrades seem to be cheaper for the mustang also.

 

did it ever occur to you that there are ALOT of people who don't buy Mustangs to be the fastest car on the road?

Sure, i'd love to be faster, but I don't give 2 *ucks if the car next to me is faster. If we race and I lose, i'm not going to contemplate modding more.

I'm not saying you're discrediting everyone, cause i'm sure you're not trying to, but that came across as really conceeded like.

I think another reason that everyone hates the Mustang is because (as may have been said already) is it's a fairly cheap, simple to mod, fun to drive, RWD V8.

Especially within the last 5-10 years when it has become 'gay' to drive domestics, Mustangs have developed a HUGE 'hate-base'

 

I have had it for four months now, and it is a fun car to drive. It does have the carbon fiber hood and it weighed 3040lbs with a 1/4 tank of gas. Its a decent running car being close to stock but its just not quick enough for me. Im about to order LG LT's, a vararam intake, an UD pulley kit, and then a few months from now a violent H/C package. Maybe in a year or two I can pick up a C6 ZO6 but for now being only 21 I feel very blessed to have what I have.

 

people hate the mustang because at least 50% of mustang drivers are little high school **** with v6's who like to rev on GT's in heavy traffic while I'm half asleep drinking my f*cking coffee on the way to work.
mustangs are the new civic. every stupid teenager wants one.

oh, and getting pulled over by cops at 3 in the morning because they think I'm out past curfew is the coolest fringe benefit of the mustang club that I've noticed so far.

OUch everyone hating on the 96-98's ouch...all I really see out here are v6 mustangs and when i do see any kind of a gt its either beanered out,pos, or modded. I very rarely see a stock one!

 

Why would you buy a pony car and not want to go fast? I don't understand that. Why not buy a nice cruiser that's luxorious, has some power, and is fun to drive, as compared to a rough/rugged pony car? Guys buy pony cars to go fast in a straight line...faster than his neighbor, his bestfriend, anyone he knows or anyone else knows. That's why we buy pony cars. Not for looks or to cruise in.

I didn't mean to come off conceeded, but look at the facts. Me, in a fairly highly modified car, is not going to worry about most Mustangs, or f-bodies, or Ferrari's, or....etc. From 0-120mph, I'm not too worried about a lot of cars.

I've seen it a TON here man, you have had to see it as well. Guys buy Mustangs with a false impression about them. They're not informed on them and then they're upset when they find out it's not the fastest car on the road, which they didn't know when they bought it.

 

I know my car is not the fastest. I love the looks of the mustangs. Ive been a raised ford fan. Just since I was a kid mustang was what I have always wanted. My mustang might be one of the slowest out of the v8's but hey if it can take out these riced out civic bitches at my school. Thats all I need.

 

Not me...any car can be made fast....I've seen alot of fast 96-98 GT's.....

 

yup. Im 16 years old paid for this car myself. I pay for insurance. Gonna mod it slowly. Then when I start college say hello terminator!
