5.0 vs Thunderbird SC
Well, I finally got a chance to run my dad's pulley swapped 90 Thunderbird SC. We went from a 10 mph roll and was dead even until I hit 3rd then I pulled about a 1 or 1 1/2 lengths on him. Second run we went from a 40 mph roll with me pulling an instant 2 cars. He really wanted to race me from a dig but I'm the worst person in the world at launching a manual transmission vehicle. Once I get some practice launching, I'll run him from a dig. He thinks he'll take me then....
wow i had no idea thundebird s/c's could be made competitive with a fox with just a pulley swap. nice kill either way. your torque would get him off the line, give it a shot sometime.
Factory ratings for them are 210 HP and 315 lb/tq. That was before the pulley swap, I dunno what kinda numbers the smaller pulley would produce. It claimed 40-45 lb/tq but didn't give a claimed HP increase. I'm sure thats not too accurate though...
Yes it is a supercharged 3.8. Only 5 hp? Why do people make such a big deal about pulley swaps on Cobras then? Is the claimed gain of 40-45 lb/tq accurate or is that way out in left field?
ORIGINAL: 93 LX FiveO
is it the 3.8L supercharged?
pulley swaps are worth 5hp at the most
you should pull on him from the line and even more once u get goin
