Yesterday morning on the way to work I was racing against the clock not anyone in particular. I'm waiting at the stop light in the middle lane (left lane is empty) when I notice traffic approaching the light and a car timing the light to keep maximum speed. When the light turned green he already was doing 20/30 mph when I started from a dig. Light turns green he pulls a half car length before I catch and pass him in the middle of second gear, I proceed to hammer it to third now he's nowhere I mean nohere to be found I really have look hard to see his headlights. I realize that the vechile was a Chevy s10 extreme and maybe he really wasn't trying to race (I'm thinking this as I'm now totally coasting damage done but was this to be my first kill?) Now I'm at the next light, this time the right lane is empty and here comes the s10 again. I don't really know what to think at this point is he delusional or is he like me in a rush? I'm snapped back to reality because the light is turning green. I delay taking off for about 5 sec. to see what kind of take off he does and sure enough he takes the bate. Now both times I don't elevate my rpm's just a straight launch. He gets a fender's lead and then I proceed to spank him just because. Now was he real competition, obviously not. I have had the car for about 3 months and haven't had any thing close to a real race. Does this even count?!

 

if he tried to race you the 2nd time, then yeah. you can tell when someone is racing you and when someone is not. same thing happened to me when i was in a rush last year, i was flooring it at lights and this old civic hatchback with a fart can was trying to keep up with me. the guy was revving his engine and everything so i could tell he was racing but i guess he thught i was trying to race but i wasnt
