Default Track night.

Well, last night turned out to be VERY packed at Englishtown Raceway here in NJ. For some reason they put me in Lane 9, which is right next to Lane 10+ which consists of all the REALLY freakin' fast cars that are doing 11s and below. All the unmuffled, etc. I really need to work on my launches and stuff as opposed to trying to beat the guy in the other lane. We only got the 3 runs in, and were there for abour 5-6 hours. I did a 13.8 x 2 and a 13.6.

1st Run against an 85ish Stang running in the 11s, with a record holder for years 85, 86, 87, 88. lol. Naturally he smoked me, and I bogged because I launched at 2k to avoid wheel spin. Crappy 60' of a 2.3 I think?

2nd Run against a 68-69ish Camaro. I spun 1st, and part of second and got like a 2.4 60' time. Though would it really matter? The guy got like a 10.8.

3rd Run against a WRX of some sort (Not STi). This was towards the end of the night when they were trying to give everyone their 3 passes. I don't know how I managed to line up next to this guy but it didn't matter. I was racing myself this time, not the lights or the guy next to me. So once the light turned green I stayed back, and just took off as if I was taking off from a stop light. Adjusted my shifts from 6k to 6500, which helped a little I think but I don't think my car is making any power that high, so 6200 should be the ticket. I think his reaction time was like .230 and mine was a whopping 1.400? lol... Nevertheless, I passed him and put about 9 car lengths on him. This is the same guy I heard talking that his car should be able to get into the low 12s or something... Maybe he was talking about "after" he does some real mods... because he landed a 16 something and me with a 13.6 and I watched him run again with another 16 something.

I need to lower my 60', but only way I'm going to do that is with practice and not trying to compete with the guy in the other lane. I've got new LCAs, which I don't believe have any wheel hop, but I think that's all they took care of. I know it's hard to chirp gears when shifting now, which I like, but I don't know if I'm really benefitting from it with the launches. I've gotten a 2.0 60' twice, prior to the LCAs. Haven't rotated the tires for 5k+ miles, but after rotating them today I really didn't notice any difference in thread. They still seem pretty meaty, so practice it is.
