Does it serve a functional purpose or is it strictly cosmetic?

The disclaimer is CDC refers to it as a "light bar".I live fairly close to CDC here in the Detroit area and went there to have it installed. They let me go back and watch the instalation proces. They were manufacturing them in the warehouse as well.It is the same material as a roll bar undernieth and is mounted directley into the frame. The person installing the bar said there were two documented cases where the bar held up and probably saved lives in two differant roll over accidents. The drag strips have always let me run the car with it when roll bar's are required at the track for verts.

Alright, today was an eventful day before work. I went to the doctor early, went home to change, and was heading to work when I spotted a 2006 Mustang GT. No big deal I thought, nice car! So he revs up ... I'm like "Are you kidding?" Then I thought maybe it was a chance to guage the power jump from mine to that car. So he honks 3 times and we both take off... HE PULLED LIKE A ****, I got my car up to 80 and he was STILL pulling!!!!!!! That car was F-A-S-T, lol.

I pulled up next to him at a red light and asked him how much he paid and what year. He said $24,900 and an '06. Also said he was going to be Supercharging it soon (Wow). So this inspired me (I had 30 mins before work and the dealership is literally right next door) to go check out Mustangs. I told the guy upfront I am not looking to buy a car, just to ask questions for a future purchase. He showed me around, they have some REAL nice "California Special" Mustang GT's on the lot, and I liked the new hood scoops (I know some people are not fans). I checked out a red 'vert and it was GORGEOUS, price was $31,000. The CS and all other Hard Top GT's were under $30,000. Right now I am looking at it like this - I hope to talk them down to around $27,000 or lower, trade in my car (He said they go by KBB, which says my car is worth $8,500 trade in) and whip out 19,000 or so for the car. Not a bad price if I do say so myself.

I really want to test drive one, but I'm not going to bug the salesmen when I have no intent to buy the car until May.
If your car has 70K miles or less your car is worth more than $8500. Have some patience and sell it privately. An 02' GT around here goes for $11-$12K. (Bay Area)
he's a sixer . . . 8500 is what i got for my 02 sixer

So Go Blue, are you happy with the GT Vert? Does it handle like a boat? I know it looks gorgeous, but is it a significant drop in power (more weight) than the hard top?

Sorry for all the questions

You know what...I have never driven a coupe. The minute I saw the Vert at the Auto show in Detroit I knew I was getting one.I do figure there is some drop in power but not a whole lot.Where just talking a 150 lbs or so in weight.Handles like a dream.Bolt on's were done to ensure I could hold my own against any stock 05+ coupe or ls1 Camaro TA etc. And I've been more than pleased.SURPRISED would be a better word. With just a tune and CAI you'll be hanging with pretty much everything in the Mustang's price range out there. Not too mention the best looking as well.

The GT-CS is just a visual package, right? I know it has visual upgrades ... but it isn't a "Bullit" or "Mach" ... So I'm assuming its just visual and no performance? I know the Coupes pull like GODS but I don't know anyone with a '05+ Vert GT, they all either have hardtops are 99-04's with some 5.0's scattered in there. I'll probably keep this car 100% stock, although that roll bar might come in handy

We have something in my area called California Concepts. They usually have rim upgrades, custom racing stripes, custom grill, and I've seen some with the foglamps centered in the middle of the front grill (both foglamps are within 6 inches of each other), custom spoiler, Color matched back seat side window louvers, and other cosmetic goodies. My friend picked up one that came with 20in rims.

The Ford dealerships around here sell them brand new on the lot for about $6-$10K above a standard GT. I must say those CC Mustangs are an eye catcher.

Yea I've heard of dealers around the country that get in bed with local aftermarket co.and have a little fun with them. What Stang 02 is refering to the GT-CS (California Special)comes from the factory like that(Flat Rock). Some differant color options it actually has the rear bumper of the Shelby 500 on it.

Yea, when I first saw it I saw it from the back and asked what the hell kind of GT it was. He brought me to the side and I read "GT-CS" and it all become clear

Gorgeous car.
