If I buy an '06 GT Convetible what will I run in the 1/4 mile, how much slower will it be than a normal GT, and will I be able to at least HANG with LS1's???

Also, say I am driving on the Interstate (Going off to college, will live about 30 mins from USM when I move in) and my top is down and I see rain coming, do I have to stop to put the top up or can I put it up while driving??

i DOUBT you can put the top up while moving... my sisters got a new edge vert and youve got to lock the e-brake. if you tried to put it up when you were moving it would be like a parachute and it would probably eff up the supports and stuff. i bet an S197 gt vert would run upper 13's, enoguh to hang with a bad LS1 driver.

 

Ls1 vs S197 with equal drivers the LS1 is about .3 second faster. If the LS1 is in a Vette about .5-.6 second faster...............Gt is close in performance ...........but still no cigar.

 

Cai and a tune and you will be closeif not faster. Ask this question in the 2005+ section to get more answers.

 

I think it will take more than CAI and a tune to overcome -50HP and a weight disadvantage. But lets not talk mods because we can go around in circles until someone runs out of money.

Iunno, it isn't hard to beat a LS1.

 

It is'nt hard to beat a (stock) F-body LS1, I would say with Full exhaust, CAI and a Good tune might add .2 seconds or 20 hp , But to run with a M6 C5 LS1 coupe you would need full bolt-ons and even then there's no guarantee.
