I didn't realize he was asking about beating a C5 'Vette. I must have missed that in his post.

His original thread said his S197 vs LS1 . He was'nt specific on what vehicle.

Just say LS1 F-body. I know if someone said they killed a 4.6, Ford guys would be wondering if its a GT or Cobra. He was'nt specific.

Maybe he meant an LS1 GTO. He'd hang with that for sure.

Holy crap, C5's are the same as F-bods at the strip. From a roll, they are a little faster.

It would take CAI, tune, cat-back to hang with one in a 5M GT with a hard-top, maybe a bit more for the 'vert, but they arent THAT much heavier. Nothing as bad as the SN95's.

I did not know that. You learn something new everyday.

So if an SS Camaro and a C5 are side by side at a light and they both hit on green, they are neck and neck? I never knew that. I assumed the 'Vette would be quicker.

All else being equal (gears, transmission, driver), the LS1 Corvette is faster than the LS1 F-body. They have the same power but the Vette is several hundred pounds lighter. It's simple physics.

The thread was started by someone looking to buy an 06.You do not need to apply the E break on 05+.If you don't have exprience don't give advice.

The F-body usually lays down about the same rwhp and for the avg driver is easier to launch due to IRS on the vette. After about 80 or so the vette will pull.

As far as the other part of the question, no you don't have to put the top up if it starts to rain as long as you keep your speed up! Got caught on the freeway on time with the top down and it started raining hard enough were i needed to put my wipers on low and drove for about a half hour this way at about 70mph and not one drop of rain got on us or the interior, until we stopped! People looked at us weird, but we were in alot of traffic in the far left lane and i told my wife to see if the back seats were getting wet and not a drop got on them. So we kept going and once we got into town and slowed down under 40 then we had to stop and quickly put it up.
