I don't think it's been posted on here, but it was very sad. 1 of them died, but the other 2 are ok atleast. They were actually doing nothing wrong - just a freak accident.

 

id hate to disagree with u but with the cobra like that id have to say they were goin alot faster than the speed limit and in which case they were doin somthin wrong

 

Mustang, I live in Tampa/Bradenton. This has been discussed on several boards with people the know these kids. What happened, was they were both driving, the Camaro his a deep bump lost a bit of control then hit a curb then hit the Cobra, sending him spinning through a concrete pole (supposedly from the driver of the camaro). This wasn't a "high speed race" - It was wet out on a tiny road. The driver of the Cobra, was known for not racing in those type conditions. I don't to speculate like the rest of the people, but the only fact I know is that the drivers said they were not racing. You live in Tampa - have you seen Florida? Would anyone in their right mind race or drive like an idiot on that road?

i know that the kid driving the stang wasnt one to race in conditions like that cause i was able to talk to one if his good freinds at a mustang meet last night all i was sayin is that ud have to be goin pretty fast to tear a car in half like that now i have no doubt that they were drivin the speed limit i was just sayin it would be hard to create damage like that and it was a freak accident cause im guessing if the cobra woulda hit the pole at any other point of the car no1 porlly woulda died it was just a freak thing that they happened to hit the prolly one weak point in the car at just the righ time to do somthing like this

 

Just a tragic freak accident. I just hope people don't blow this way out of porportion, like they always seem to do (media, govt, etc.) - they were speculating on one of the threads that, probably doin around 50-60 which isn't uncommon to do on a deserted road. People don't realize how fast that really is. They talk about doin 120mph this and that, but don't realize how fast 45mph is! I remember in drivers ed, someone said "60mph isnt fast" - the teacher told him to run as fast as he could in a 40yd dash, and smack into a brick wall without bracing himself - and that would probably be around 5-7mph (or so?).

 

With all do respect to the people that know him.There is no way in hell they where only doing 50-60.The axle is torn in half."A weak part of the car"I feel for him as he was only a pasanger but I suspect when all is said in done law enforcement will be able to determine the speeds that the cars were traveling.And I suspect both drivers will face charges.A car doesn't get ripped in half at 50-60 mph.Unless the FD tore up the car using the jaws of life or something.

 

when a ls1 camaro and a terminator have a collision side by side it is not a "freak accident." sure they will say they weren't racing...the passenger fing died...that's sure to be at least involuntary manslaughter. they were at least screwing around....and if it was wet they are idiots. i feel sorry for the passenger and his family...he was the only one with no control over the situation and he got the worst of it.

 

This is why I didn't post this on this forum. You guys are just ignorant about the situation. First off, it was a SS, haha, and it was a 2001 Cobra. The kids involved were all friends, it's not like they just met up at a light. The kid Mo that was driving the Cobra was known for not racing or being stupid in his car in bad conditions. Your right, that's what they said - but for everyone that personally knows them it doesn't add right. The reason the kid died, was because he got ejected from the car, then somehow hit the other car.

Your car can't get ripped in half unless you're going at an enormous amount of speed eh? Then how come it happened to my stepbrother? He had a 2001 GT, making a U-Turn got tboned by a semi doing 40mph, and his car was destroyed. Another one, (the tampa guys might remember this) - There was a kid I went to school with named Sam, he stole a corvette and was racing my friend in his turbo protege (waste of time) - he was doing 60mph around a curve slid into a tree, and the Vette was split in 2. These were things I have laid witness to. Just because you can't fathom something happening doesn't mean it doesn't happen. In my Cobra, and Mustang I have gone driving with people that owned Camaros, Mustangs, Firebirds, Porsches, etc., and we never raced once. Don't be an internet retard. I think your to close to the situation and need to take the blinders off.A Semi will rip any car in half at 15 mph.Nice analogy.Kids are kids they will race in whatever car there in whether it's dad's crown vic or mom's mini van.LOOK AT THAT CAR.It was no freak accident at 60 mph.Like I said before law enforcement will be able to determine the rate of speed.Stay tuned.
