man that sucks to hear about it. where do you live? and good luck on the case and everything, hopefully your not put into debt for the lawyer. the only thing cops are useful for is to keep kryspy kreme (doughtnut place) in business, well thats where you always find them around here. good luck and i hope everything turns out for the best man.

Take the case to court. Here's one thing for you..most, if not all cop vehicles have video cameras constantly recording. Hire a lawyer and see if the video cameras help your story...assuming that they recorded the whole event.

As long as you have a lawyer & the 5.0 driver is willing to testify you didn't do anything & your driving record isn't an absolute disaster, you'll get off the hook without a doubt.

it sounds like you had a bunch of witnesses in the car with you being that you were had you buddies with right? or did i mis read? any way if the driver of the other car is willing to say you didn't do anything as well as your passengers it should'n't be to tough to convince a judge. especially being that in tis typ of situation he has no radar numbers, or video evidence against you, it is purely a his word against all of yours senario. truthfully I don't think there is even anything illega about 2 cars lining up and leaving a light quickly, as long as you don't squeal the tires and don't exceed the posted limits theres nothing they can do except try and hassle you. at least thats been my expierience where i live.

ahhh not true. I once got a ticket for fastly accellerating. But hes right the cop has no proof but, the words that are coming out of his mouth. Get everyone that was with you to help and then just start asking the cop to prove it. I wouldn't have taken the ticket without proof. The minute the cops turn there lights on those cameras turn on. If you were really racing there WOULD be proof.

how much do you think it will cost, and you do think i can get out of this stupidness
What ever it cost it cost. Get the money through whatever means. Too much depends on it.

I will say this: In ny, if a cop accuses two motorists of "competition on the street" they have to solid proof -- usually a video tape. This usually occurs in "hot spots" where cops stalk and hide cameras.

If proven in court, both cars will be auctioned off and the proceeds will go to the city. Nothing you can do about it.

The only loop hole is if the title is in another person's name. That person will have to go to court and claim his/her car stating that the fault was the driver who barrowed the car from the unsuspecting owner.

A fair lawyer should get this expunged.
