Just adding to the search....if you were indeed done for street racing, it is, like I said a Misdemeanor. Your car can now be searched for two reasons. Incident to arrest (yes the ticket you signed is considered an arrest), or if he decides to tow your car (which he did have the right to do, and in CA can hold it for 30 days, costing you about $2500.00 to get it out). Again, I work in an agency of about 500 cops. I dont like all of them, hell some of them I want nothing to do with. But the majority are real good people. I to, have picked up body parts of the roads because of somebody driving over their ability, and had to explain to parents what happened to their kid. I have been shot at, kicked, punched. You name it. But I love my job and would not do anything else. It took a long time to not get really worked up over people stereotyping me. But you learn to live with it, and most will see the light someday.

On a side note, I obvioulsy dont street race, but took my new 06 gt 5sp down the track tonight and turned a 13.8. Not bad for my first time down a quarter mile in about 10 years. Cant wait to do a tune etc.....

You're 20, WTF do you know? I would wager most if not all of the cop bashers are in your age group.

you obviously havent been to northern virginia before. there are a lot of good cops out there who do their job 100% and they are respected by me. but there are also a lot out there who are worthless pieces of slime. everyone knows what happened to me a year ago (well some do) and lets just say they have harrased innocent members of my family members for doing absolutely nothing this past year. so while there are some good cops out there, it is ignorant to say all cops are just doing their job, because believe me, a lot of guys think just because they have a badge they can do whatever the hell they want.

please do me a favor and stfu. the cops in my area are a joke. plain and simple. im not going to go into detail about what happened to me but lets just say i am still in a position to sue the cops in my county for what they did and i would probably win. but im being the bigger man and letting go of the situation. please dont come on here, having no background of the area and what happened to me when you start running your mouth like you know everything. like i said, there are a lotta good cops, and yet, there are pieces of slime out there too. im sick of people living in this fantasy world where no cops can do no wrong ever and cops are perfect. wake up

wow thats messed up. the girl made an honest mistake and the cop had no reason to go back there to the register. if the manager said she was right he should have left it at that and moved along. he seriously arrested an underage girl AND maced her in the face? talk about being a big baby. if something WAS wrong and the cop knew he was right, he should have went to the manager of the store instead of going to the girl like that. wow im surprised that the cop didnt get anything, at least the girl got 60,000 in damages but im not surprised that the cop got away scotch free.

GUYS GUYS GUYS!!! Enough with the cop bashing! I happen to be one and yeah, I've worked with some who were worthless and some who were d***s. Many of you work with this type of person too...we hire from the human race. I've owned a 64 Chevelle Malibu (loud obnoxious thing and it was a blast to drive) and a CBR 900RR and have my share of D-head cops. With the Malibu I actually got on a first name basis with one because of my antics...Ofcr Bates. Anyhow, I've earned most of my run-ins with cops for doing stupid stuff in my past and many of you have too. Now that I am one (have been for 7 yrs now) I get to see the other side of racing. Not two months ago I was holding a kid's head as he gurgles his last breath. Had been racing, lost control and crashed. When the F&F movie came out, everyone was a "hot shot driver" and fatalities and accidents shot waaaay up. It got so bad that here in TX you now can, most likely will, go to jail for racing on the freeway. We get to do the clean up when an immature person (adults included) loses it in a race. Most cops jump *** when you get caught doing stupid stuff because of the senseless loss of life and damage incurred by wanna-be racers. We are human, we do make mistakes and I agree...the absolute berating of someone, unjustly deserved, isn't right.

In addition to the helpful suggestions above... You have every right to contact a supervisor regarding your traffic stop. Don't go straight to the Cheif; a Sgt would do. I obviously can't say this will remedy your cause but it's worth a shot and alot cheaper than a lawyer. You can also speak with your City Prosecutor. Call the city court and find out who this is and see if you can meet with him in person to explain your case. The prosecutor can squash the case before it even goes to court. Beyond that, prepare your case and go forward with confidence.

A vast majority of cops are really good guys. Sure, a few are overboard with their behavior and it's unfortunate these are the ones you remember. Hope this helps. By the way, I honestly can't remember the last time I had a donut ha ha!

PS: Brand new to the site and Stangs in general...first post so if something is screwed in my post I apologize. I'll get the hang of it.

Welcome to the board. I have personal friend that is a cop, we both are heavily involved in Cub Scouting, and I know no other cops in my city. But I know that my friend will not even stop someone who is speeding unless they are doing 10 over. They have too many other things to worry about. I am sorry to hear about your situation, because you did get the shaft. But follow the advice you have read on here, and you will be fine. If you really want to know how the court system works, get a divorce from a cheating spouse and lose over half of your income, thats justice! Be cool, do what you can do. And stay away from us fox owners, j/k.
I agree with you basically 100%. I am in school at the moment for criminal justice. You're going to find good and bad people in every job today. Thats just the thing, we are all human and we all make mistakes.
As for your situation, I would get a lawyer and have your buddies and the driver of the other stang testify for you, (that he tried to race you and you didnt want to) and see if their in car cameras got it on tape at all. I would think it's possible for you to get out of it though. whos knows, if your lucky, the cop might not show up to court.
Good luck!

he said he saw the other gu ake off, and actually the other guy straight up told him the gut in the 05 didnt do anything but he said he saw my car jump, i told the cop it has a brand new stage 3 clucth and stage 3 flwheel that just got installed, literaally, in the trunk is the old clucth and stuff, if anything he saw me trying not to stall, i dont know where the cop came from, he was just a ***, he said its not his promblem havent learned the new clucth yet, i said have thought about thatbefore trying to drive on the main road
If it was night there is no way he was able to see your car jump like that. Not only would I get a lawyer, but I would bring a discrimination suit against the police department. Maybe age / race / etc etc. Bring charges against them for abusing the system and using it as a way to get cash out of people.

This is why I hate 99% of cops and they need to choke on a bottle cap and drop a hair dryer in the bathtub!
