what mods what a stock 05 GT need to walk a 06 GTO??

MORE QUESTIONS TO DEBATE!!
I had 4:10 gears, C&L cai and SCT2 tuner with Bamachips 93 oct tune on my 2005 Mustang GT-5spd. It made a big difference in performance from stock. With that said, it was still a little slower than the stock 6.0 liter GTO I traded it in on. If you wanted to "WALK" on a 6.0 liter goat, your gonna need FI or nitrous, or hope the driver of the goat doesn't know how to drive it, lol! Seriously though, the 6.0 liter LS2 just has too much displacement for the 4.6 to overcome. The torque in the 6.0 is huge and is there thru the whole rpm range. My GT, even after mods, felt like an average every day driver until you got it over 3000 rpm's. The GTO is ready too pull well below that so their is no need to drive in a lower gear around town. Also gets me a couple mpg's better do to this! I however did love my GT and could see myself in another stang one day when i can afford a more exclusive, faster Saleen!!!! Hey, there you go, trade for a SC Saleen, problem solved!

well i got rid of my 99 GT for a gto and since then i raced a couple of gt's and a 04 cobra twice both stock, and i havent lost yet.... ( i have an 06 with an a4.
Tell that cobra driver he needs to learn how to drive! He should be beating you.
um yea i was in the car with him when he raced a 01 ss and it looked like he could shift pretty good. Thats why i beat him twice so there would be no doubt in my mind that i could take him we stopped at like 60-70, i should of brought him on the highway....... lights out.

14) steelerguy 13.378 @ 106.54 MPH

All backed up with time slips at http://ls1gto.com/forums/showthread.php?t=106613

Please, show me where a stock Mustang GT has achieved those times.
its funny what they consider stock there. . .

i wouldn't consider no air filter and drag radials stock. . . and i have already got them to admit that. . . bud

give me a 06 GT with drag radials, and i will get low 13's. . . promise

i know plenty of GT's that run around 12.9's with those mods, 12.7's with drag radials. I didn't know a stock GTO could do faster than that(sure...), sh*t... let me go down to poniac and trade in my GT for a GTO...........oh wait, GTO's look ugly

Actually, some LS2 Goat's have gotten into the 12's stock.....

They really look good up close, at least to me. The interior is super nice.

Yes a very small amount of really skillful drivers have gotten the complete and totally stock GTO (05 or 06) into the very high 12's, but this is the exception, not the rule. As a matter of fact I wrote an email to Pontiac about something I was highly upset about. In the brochure the GTO (A4 and M6) was capable of (and I quote) IMMEDIATE 13.0 @ 108 MPH and I wanted to know how they got that time. They refused to answer my question. I am assuming it was completely stock, right off the showroom floor (ergo the immediate) and probably on a very cool day. I can only guess how they got it, but my best guess was running the car time and time again with a very skillful driver. Most GTO's turn 13.5 to 14.5 off the showroom floor, and they don't really run good until you get 3K miles on the car. I felt I was deceived. My best time totally stock was a 13.6X, but I weigh 270 and I am not a skillful driver or not as skillful as the pros they have driving the car. The car on the scales with me in it is 4050, which is pretty heavy.

I am not downing my car, I just feel that the gap between my 13.6 (and many other drivers) and the IMMEDIATE 13.0 @ 108 was too big of a gap.

Back to the Mustangs for a minute, I love the dark blue GT.

I find it hard to believe all those young guys who drool over the WRX/sti and the EVO. I just don't see it, but at 52 years old, I am 'old school'.

My next car (hopefully) will not be a GTO, a Mustang, a GM or Ford product. The idea of a 2009 Hemi Challenger (purple please) has really gotten my attention.

A guy on here ran 12.9 with his stock '05 GTO. How's he do it? By driving it well (not the car's fault if you can't bang the gears properly) and by not running in 90* heat or in the Himalayas.
BTW, when I got my car most reliable sources at the time said I could expect a 13.7-13.8 out of my car. Needless to say I was pleasantly surprised. My g/f went out and bought one like it and ran 13.3.[:-] We should have sent emails to GM, not to whine but to praise their engineers and their dedication to affordable performance.

Same here. I'm a GM guy and I love the S197 Stang but damn, what a car![:-]
Not purple though. Black looks bad![sm=badbadbad.gif]

BTW, my dad had an old Goat and still laments the day he let it go.

Gee, Tommy, kind of tough on the ole feller aren't you.

First of all, you don't 'bang' the A4, you take the t/c off and leave it in 3rd. Secondly, I did do some homework before I bought the car and I felt I had to right to address the deception I felt was directed at possible future owners, as quoted and advertised in the brouchure. One person calls it whining while the other person calls it a search for the truth and how the truth was attained.

I let a very skilled driver drive the car one night (about 8 runs) and his best time was only .14 faster than mine, however he attained a goal I was aiming for and I am grateful for his time and efforts.

So in reply, I do have a 'clue'.

I would think that even an automatic should be able to run better than 13.6 with that much power on tap. After studying your sig and seeing that you still trap 106 with an LS2 and those mods, I suspect that you are not running in very good atmospheric conditions. I hit 105 bone stock and 106 with an airbox lid and a hole cut into my intermediate pipe. I don't make anywhere near LS2 power. Is it heat? High elevation? Or both? And what gears does the GTO come with, 3.46?
Sorry if I sounded harsh; I just feel the need to defend the Chevy smallblock around here.

If ur looking at it as which car is faster then drivers race. The gto is a faster car if u went from a roll but from a stop it might be close. Alot of article say that the gto is a pretty tough car to get a good launch with. so with 2 drivers with the same skill level, then stang might win from a stop because it is easier to launch. maybe thats y alot of mustang guys talk about gto kills. ur ave guy can drive a mustang more consistant then a gto.
