even if its stock its pushing 14 psi. but its not, because he has exhaust, which helps a ton on a turbo car. i still think you're going to lose even if its stock, even more so if he has exhaust. does he have an aftermarket boost gauge? stock boost gauges are usually shot so this could be the reason for it "only being at 7 psi"

i would say u could beat him... i wouldnt bet cash on it hto... and if he can out drive u he mite win just becuz the cars seem rather close... now if he really is running 9 psi and didnt make it up or doesnt kno what his talking aobut then that would we a hell of a lot lets hp since the guys on here are sayin 14 is stock... thats 5psi less... i could easily believe a 25-40hp loss on that... and that would also make the exhsuat less usefully... gears are a hell of an upgrade... and then timing would be next... if you friend has a gun and a dist wrench just do it at his house... takes like 15mins mayb... and if you dad knows very lil about timing he couldnt tell the difference... just mkae sure u using high octance fuel... and let hte motor get used to the timing b4 u push it hard.... gl ethier way

my convertable 5.0 aod with 3.73 gears ran best of 14.9 I left it in o/d and it shifted into od at around 3000 (way to early) so with a hard top and 4.10's you will prob be around 14.2 to 14.5's the 1/4 mile might be to long to just leave it in drive you might have to pop it in od. here are the stock 1/4 mile times I found.

1989 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 7.2 15.8
1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T 7.4 15.9
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS-T (Auto) 7.4 15.5 (MT June, 94)
1990 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.9 15.2
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 7.0 15.3
1992 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS Turbo 6.7 15.3 (MT Sept, 92)
1993 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.8 15.2
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GS 9.0 16.6
1995 Mitsubishi Eclipse GSX 6.4 14.9
2000 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 7.0 15.4
2006 Mitsubishi Eclipse GT 5.8 14.4

that should make u feel more confident if it is truly "stock" or it is modded and he is pulling a bytch and he is just saying that to win and make 5.0's look bad in front of his friends.
my heavy and weak frame with 3.73 beats every car except the 2006 model and that was my first time at the track.

Alright I used to own a 98 GST Spyder, they do push 14lbs. stock and they are quicker than first gen front drivers not awd. There is also no way for him to be pushing under 14lbs. of boost because the wastegate has a set spring inside, when boost reaches that high it opens and lets exhaust gasses bypass the turbo. You can go higher with a boost controller which is basically a check valve which delays boost from getting to the wastegate until a higher boost pressure. So heres what there is to look at, he is possibly pushing 14lbs. or more and is just lying to you in that case your cars toast, he could have something wrong under the hood, bad turbo for one, if this is the case you will most likely see smoke from the exhaust due to him burning the oil thats lubricating the turbo, or he has a boost leak that he doesnt know about. If hes actually only pushing 7 to 9 I would say you have a chance. Its only a 2.0L 4cyl with a 9.0:1 CR I believe. First gens were 7.8:1. Hope this helps you some.
